Clovis Trail 3
CA-168 reaches its southern end at CA-180. The CA-180 freeway was extended west of this interchange in September 2005. Prior to that, the left lanes shown here would end to a stub. CA-168 & CA-180 west of this interchange was built in the late 1990s. (see link below for more info) The flyover ramp from CA-168 west to CA-180 east is the same age as the camera I'm using. CA-180 westbound reaches the CA-41 interchange, a major north-south highway that goes from Pismo Beach & Atascadero in the south to Oakhurst & Yosemite in the north. Notice the tubular sign bridges used here are more pleasing to the eye rather than those ugly, metal truss sign bridges. The flyover ramp from CA-180 west to CA-41 north was almost demolished due to lack of funding & community opposition when the CA-180 freeway was built. Taken on Sep 5 2011. Uploaded Nov 24, 2011

CA-180 travels thru the large stack interchange with CA-41, which was built in 1982 & expanded in the late 1990s. The ramp from CA-180 eastbound to CA-41 north was almost demolished due to lack of funding to build the CA-180 freeway as well as community opposition, since building this freeway resulted in demolishing several historic buildings. The segment of CA-180 freeway from CA-99 to CA-41 opened in August 1995. Photo taken on Sep 5 2011. Uploaded on Nov 24, 2011
CA-180 nears the interchange with CA-99 which opened in August 1995 & expanded in 2003; although initial grading for this interchange was present as early as 1987. The section of CA-180 freeway west of CA-99 was completed by 2008. As of October 2011, much of CA-180 in Fresno is a freeway, with a new 4-lane expressway from Fresno to Sanger. This segment of CA-180 freeway is the same age as my friends. Photo taken on Sep 5 2011. Uploaded on Nov 24, 2011
CA-99 travels under the Teilman Ave bridge (built in 1956) The next exit is #134 Belmont Ave. Notice how the bridge guardrail is painted red. CA-99 should be upgraded to interstate highway standards since it serves several large cities not served by an interstate. Taken on Sep 5 2011. Uploaded Dec 25 '11
CA-180 approaches the interchange with CA-99 (exit 57A), which was opened in 1995 & extended westward in 2003. The CA-180 freeway west of here was opened in 2008. CA-180 west of here goes thru the cities of Kerman & Mendota, although CA-180 ends at CA-33 in Mendota. There are plans to extend CA-180 west to I-5 in the future. I've been waiting for almost a year to take there photos. Photo taken on Sep 5 2011. Uploaded on Nov 24, 2011
CA-168 travels under the Clinton Ave. overpass. Before the CA-180 freeway was extended eastward in 2005, drivers here would have to exit at McKinley Ave. to go to CA-180 east & Kings Canyon. McKinley Ave (exit #1) is ¼ mile & CA-180 is ¾ mile from here. CA-41 is 2 miles from here via CA-180 west. The auxiliary lane at the left was recently resurfaced. Taken on Sep 5 2011. CA-168 travels under the Sunnyside Ave. overpass. This bridge is also a lot wider than the amount of traffic it currently handles. Herndon Ave. is 1/2 mile, Bullard Ave. is 1 & 3/4 mile, & Shaw Ave. (old CA-168) is 3 miles from here. Taken on Sep 5 2011. Uploaded on September 24, 2011

CA-168 travels under the Dakota Avenue overpass. Dakota Ave. was narrowed down from 2 lanes to 1 lane in each direction in order to add a suicide lane in the median. Shields Ave is ¼ mile, McKinley Ave is 1¼ mile, & CA-180 is 1¾ miles from here. Taken on Sep 5 2011. Uploaded on October 3, 2011

CA-180 reaches exit 57B Fulton street/Van Ness Avenue. This freeway was built in 1993-1994 & opened in 1995. Several historic buildings were demolished to make room for this freeway. Yet Fresno is the largest city in the US that isn't served by an interstate highway, although it is served by 4 major state routes: CA-41, CA-99, CA-168, & CA-180. Fresno's freeway system also lacks a beltway. This freeway is the same age as my friend. Photo taken on Sep 5 2011. Uploaded Nov 24, 2011
The next exit is #4 Shaw Avenue. (postmile R4.26). Before CA-168 was constructed as a freeway in 1999, the routing started along Shaw Ave. along CA-41 (Blackstone Ave). Exit on Shaw Ave to go to CSU-Fresno. Several houses were demolished when this freeway was built. Taken on Sep 5 2011. Uploaded on September 25, 2011
