This is ground zero for highly contamined and untreated surface water run off. These 4 storm water outfalls drain 30 sq. miles of industrial area. Duwamish River views. Gateway Park South. These street-end parks have become neighborhood destinations for shoreline access, hand-carry boat launches and wildlife viewing. Gateway Parks North and South mark the location of the former 8th Avenue Bridge that directly linked Georgetown and South Park neighborhoods until 1937. Public access at Slip 4 includes a natural storm water treatment pond and paths to a hilltop viewpoint of the river. Slip 4 is across the river from this park.
Local residents on the Duwamish. The Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), The Osprey tolerates a wide variety of habitats, nesting in any location near a body of water providing an adequate food supply.
