A wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures and drawings from famous and non famous artists of Europe, beginning from the 14th century up to the most modern artists of our time. It is located in the heart of Oslo in a magnificent building. Visitors can spend a few hours here, learn about the evolution of arts in Norway and their influence from Dutch and Italian masters. The collection hosts the most complete selection of paintings from Edvard Munch, including his most important paintings.

Anyone travelling to Oslo, should definitely make a stop at the national gallery. I had expected it to be larger...But given the amount of famous art that's here it's still very worth it. A student ticket is only 50 kroner which is incredibly reasonable. Edvard Munch's the Scream is housed here as well. The painting is also not allowed to leave the country, so if you're in town now's your chance!

Large variety of artists, found the fairy tale room with monster in the lake. Really enjoyable experience.

The museum is wheelchair friendly.

A swift visit. It was great seeing a number of pieces of art work from famous Norwegian artists and brought into context how their paintings were influenced by Europe throughout the various artistic periods.

One of the best art museums I have been to. Good guide that knew what she was talking about and made it interesting, beautiful pieces of art inside a wonderful building. Worth taking a trip just to see the architecture. There is also the famous "skrik" painting and many other great, original works.
