Overrated and culturally insensitive. My haircut was performed by the owner, Loann.

I arrived with natural long hair, all one length, and gave my stylist the freedom to choose a style with minimal restrictions. I did request that my hair look natural, which seemed to have confused my stylist. I believe that if a stylist is truly talented, that the customer should be able to apply minimal effort to a style. This was definitely not the philosophy of my stylist.

I expected precision for the price I paid, but instead my fringe which she was attempting to use to frame my face was slightly hacked. Not terribly, however for the price I paid the expectation was rather high for this place.

I have had my hair cut at Vidal Sassoon in NYC, Ozuki, and Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door to name a few. All have been less expensive and all exceeded the standards of this salon.

The stylist asked me what my ethnicity was, and when I explained my background she told me that I was lucky that I got my hair from my Iberian side. I found this to be culturally insensitive, as if European hair is better than Afro-Caribbean hair. Not to mention, that she failed to realize that Caribbean’s and West Indians have various types of textures of hair.

I will not be going back.

I've had my hair styled by Micki Cheung since before he started at Salon L'Eau, and I won't let anyone else touch it! Carlos is fabulous as well....

Beautiful place. Best haircut ever, by Jean Luc. Great experience!

Since I have been a happy customer for a few years and received numerous compliments on my hair I thought I should let my secret out: my fantastic stylist, Ziya, and Salon L'eau.

You know that feeling when you walk out of the salon and feel great because of a fantastic haircut... I am lucky enough to have that since I have a talented stylist to make it happen.

It all started because I had hair envy. One of my girlfriend's hair always looks great so I asked her where she went. She said Salon L'eau in Georgetown and that it is known to be one of the best in the city. I was not unhappy with my stylist at the time but her haircut and color always looked amazing so I was tempted. I called and spoke with Carlos who was so cool to fit me in for an appointment and have never looked back.

Since I have been going to Ziya, I get compliments (and stares!) on my haircut for months afterwards. I have realized that the cut has staying power and lasts for a long time which is the sign of a good cut and why the compliments keep coming. During the consult, we'll discuss what I have in mind, he listens then prepares for the treatment and cut. The result: beautiful, shimmery highlights with contrasting tones and an updated cut. And more compliments!

For my first ever Google review, I would give 5 stars to Salon L'eau and recommend Ziya!

I came here because I had a coupon through Gilt City. I was a bit intimidated as it's a rather swanky salon. They ask you to change into a kimono when you arrive and have a designated shampooer...
That said I probably got the best hair cut I've ever gotten there. I told the stylist to do whatever and he gave me a very flattering bob with an off-center part to make it more contemporary.
If the regular price wasn't so exorbitant I would be a regular customer for sure.
