Back in 2013 this was still "Four Points by Sheraton" but I guess this did not last. Good location and walk from the mall. Things have changed it seems since...

I came here during Thanksgiving, 2012. At that point, I thought this place (Sheraton) was still acceptable, with clean and convenient facilities inside.

Now, I am here again. The place has its name changed to 12 & K, probably since the vicissitude of the operational corporation.

One thing I care the most, is the indoor air quality, and a room can be evaluated by opening the door for the first time. Unfortunately, my room is pretty musty this time, which deemed as unsanitary. And the fusty odor is irredeemable even if I tried to ventilate the room by opening the window. So I guess the pernicious smell may come from the AC system.

The bed and quilt are unpleasant as well, with unidentified specks on them.

So, if you do want to relish the convenience of the location, you may want to pick up a room facing south, which has difference to some degree when it comes to the fusty odor.

Friendly service, clean room, decent amenities. It wasn't quite what you'd expect from a Four Points. The toilet had a leak and would make a rushing water noise through the night. The AC was quite loud. The pillows were a bit lumpy and the beds were just bearable. The shower was quite nice though! Stayed 2 nights.

I thought the W would be be a great place to take a few friends. Boy was I wrong.

The bartender confiscated one of our IDs (all of us are between 26 and 30), he took it into a back room, and left it there. When he came back out, he served the rest of us and said the remaining one would be just a second. 10 minutes later, a security guy came up and spoke with the guy who's ID has been taken. Asked him to come talk with him where it was quieter in the hall. My friend needed this ID for his return flight to Washington state. The security guy decided to kick out my friend out without giving his ID back.

My friend explained to the security guy, pleading that security call the police to validate the ID. The cops would have doubtlessly confirmed it's validity. Rather than calling, they finally gave him back his ID (over an hour later) but wouldn't let him back in. In the mean time, I had asked to speak with the manager, who said he would gladly pay for our drinks once the police had validated the ID. However when I got a text from my friend, I asked to speak with the manager. Of course, the bartender refused to contact him... So we had our friend kicked out and they wouldn't produce the manager to at least tell me what was going on.

I recommend you take your business elsewhere (especially if you are travelling-- if it isn't a local ID they won't know how to read the security features), at least until the management changes. If the W management is reading this, we were there the evening of 6/22/2012 about 10:00pm and would love an apology.

Wonderful location. Walking distance to the White House, the Mall and all the memorials. Metro close by. Lots of restaurants in the area. The staff was very friendly, the restaurant and bar on the 2nd floor are good and there is an enclosed pool on the roof. The rooms are a bit small but that would be the only negative. There is a washer/dryer on each floor as well. Good value for the money.
