My name is Teresa May and my mother had colon cancer. She had surgery and is now taking chemo with Dr. Anderson. She is suffering from severe diarrhea which the pharmacy told her was from the chemo medication she is taking. She discussed this with Dr. Anderson who prescribed her Lomotil. She started taking that and it wasn't working. We contacted Dr. Anderson's office and told them it wasn't working. They told us to increase the dose to 2 every 4 hours. She did that and it's still not working. I contacted Dr. Anderson's office back today and told them that the lomotil is still not working and that I'm worried about my mother. She has not ate in 2 days and drinking very little because she is afraid of the diarrhea getting worse and that all she is doing is laying in the bed and that I'm scared she is going to get dehydrated. I asked them is there anything they can do for her to stop the diarrhea now so I can get her out of bed and get her something to eat and then get her to the doctor. Their reply back was take her to the emergency room to be evaluated. I myself am a RN, and I worked in the long term care facility meself so my question is where is the caring and the compassion. I suspect if this was Dr. Anderson's mother different options would have been made avaiable. I am very upset with the level of customer care that has been shown to my mother and my family. She deserves a better doctor and I have recommended that she seek care elsewhere. As upset as I am with Dr. Anderson and his poor care of my mother, I still wish a better doctor than he has been to my mother.

Eric Anderson is an outstanding oncologist. I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer and Dr Anderson has been more than helpful in explaining my diagnosis and what I should expect while receiving treatment. I'm sorry for whatever trouble has been incurred during the difficult time of a loved one being diagnosed with cancer but, Dr Anderson is one of the finest doctors I've known.

No stars!! The system wouldn't let me post that! I would not recommend Dr. Eric Anderson or Pearlman Cancer Center to anyone needing treatment. My mother was diagnosed by Dr. Anderson with stage-4 breast and bone cancer during a stay at SGMC. During her stay my mother was unable to comprehend the information given her; Dr. Anderson never met with me or my brother to discuss the diagnosis, it was left up to the hospitalist (Dr. Valdez) to inform us of the terminal nature of her disease. Upon her release and return home under hospice care she regained her faculties and desired a consult with Dr. Anderson. 4 attempts were made by me, and 2 attempts by her hospice nurse to get a consult so that the information could be explained to my mother with all requests being ignored! Dr. Anderson's nurse navigator, nor anyone else in the office had the courtesy to return a call! It was left up to me and Hospice of South Georgia to explain to my dying mother the nature of her illness. If consideration and communication are of concern to anyone seeking consult or treatment I would recommend seeking out another physician.
