Good burger. Shoestring fries were average. Good drink selection and atmosphere.

We went to The Tavern after leaving a nearby restaurant. The service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant is small but the aesthetic is pleasing. The menu is small but does seem to over something for everyone if you are adventurous.
My husband had the hamburger, but left off the stilt on cheese & mushroom cream sauce. He said the burger was good. He was not impressed with the frites & thought they tasted like canned, dehydrated shoestring potatoes.
I had the special, bacon wrapped meatloaf on potatoes. The meatloaf was sliced thin instead of the typical comfort food loaf style I'm used too. I couldn't taste the flavor of the meat at all because the ketchup-BBQ sauce slathered on top was overwhelming. For $22 for what was essentially meat & potatoes (no vegetable, roll, nothing but fried onions on top!), I expected knock-your-socks off flavor.
Our two meals + 2 Cokes came to nearly $50. Overall, I'd give the food 3 stars but the service bumps my review up another star.

So, I'm 62. Fried catfish dinner looked a little weird form my experience. BUT, just about the best catfish I've had. Crab rice does not sound good to me. I could have eaten two bowls. I will be back!
