It seems to be a habit of the leadership here to rub people the wrong way. I am giving four stars that maybe they will have a hard time getting a positive review removed. Interesting you will notice Reuel has not made a comment about Kohen Mishpocah never being a name at their synagogue when obviously it is a fake, it is ok under his deceptive viewpoint to leave a positive review under a fake name. I am messianic and couldn't agree more that there are decent messianic synagogues and there are bad ones. This one is borderline cult maybe already there but just as desperate and wrong as some pastors I know. Reuel will probably cut and past his pre rehearsed reply below this just like every one else's reviews he find distasteful. I personally can testify that the events mentioned did indeed happen, the dog jumping and him showing up cussing at his wife, the not being able to actually read the Torah without a cheater paper, that his leaders were and are mentally struggling individuals while the smart ones quite. It is messianic synagogues like this that give the rest of us sane people a bad name. His online bullying whether it be Facebook or personal emails is beyond disgraceful. Yeshuah would be ashamed of such behavior. To the idea that Ryan which is his real name is Jewish, if so that is news to me. When we went there he was not Jewish but tried really hard to be since he thinks that entitles him to leadership. Reuel also talks like he is friends and part of the Jewish community of Spokane which indeed is just his insecurities of not being accepted. One has to get past these childish games of gossip and lies that come from his household. If you are not exactly likeminded as them they treat you with such disrespect. Talking behind peoples backs was commonplace. Reuel please consider this, it starts in your household. Think of the examples you are leaving your children with. What Chavurat needs is maturity, something that I personally never see happening with the leadership they have now. Their so called cantor was suicidal a few weeks before taking his leadership position. Dismiss it all as lies like always that is his only camouflage left.

Synagogue Chavurat HaMashiach is one of the finest Messianic Synagogues I have come across. Rabbi Reuel Dillon is a great Rabbi, a great teacher and a very humble man. He is knowledgeable in the Torah and the rest of the scriptures. I enjoy very much participating in the weekly Shabbat Service online. The service brings glory and honor to Hashem and builds up his people in faith, hope and love. The Chavurat HaMashiach website contains a wealth of information and resources to build people up in their faith. I highly recommend this congregation and their leadership to any Jew or Gentile believer in Yeshua the Messiah as well as to any Jew or Gentile seeking to see if Yeshua is the Messiah and the hope of Israel first and the nations also.

We visit this congregation each time we are in Spokane. We love the warmth, sincerity and integrity of the congregation leaders and the friendliness of the congregants in this Torah centered place, who lift up Messiah.

1.) This is Messianic Jewish space. It never seeks to identify itself as anything but what it asserts itself to be as, a Messianic Jewish congregation that seeks to emulate R'Y'shua that many profess to be the Messiah throughout the world and throughout the ages. The idea of Jewish Messiah is complex and diverse in thought and theology. More messianic congregations would benefit to adapt itself in a similar manner of style and practice to how Chavurat conducts itself.
2.) The rabbi at this congregation is born Jewish, born of a Jewish mother. He went to a yeshiva. He was educated in Jewish thought and practice and received his rabbinical ordination. The rabbi of this congregation leads his congregation with an honesty in its intention towards guidance of its halachic protocol that operates in a manner that hopefully honors R'Y'shua.
3.) The services are available. The liturgy is there and read in Hebrew. The Shema is recited. Studies are available on a daily basis. Gerut is available. Bar and bat mitzvah is available. Pidyon haben is available. Oneg is available. The appointed times are remembered and honored. The space is clear and the boundaries laid out, to operate within a framework that seeks to reflect 1st century Jewish lifestyle and practice by those that followed R' Y'shua in the ancient times while incorporating modern day elements.
4.) Those who seek to commit l'shon hara here only bring shame to themselves and dishonor to the form of Judaism they represent. No self respecting Jew would act in a manner such as these group of individuals that do. Particular dialogues should have been handled privately and in person between individuals. It is against Torah to act in this manner and they will answer to Hashem for their attitudes towards Rabbi Reuel and this congregation. Being born, raised, lived and will die Jewish who has a wife also born Jewish, and children born Jewish that speak hebrew rarely have I ever seen a Jew act in this manner of contempt regardless of whatever shul we have been at whether Orthodox, Conservative, or Reform. None of our family members or friends would act in this manner. Ever. Tense? yes. Skeptical? Yes. Bewildered? Certainly, but hostile? Its disgraceful and despicable. It brings shame to them and to their form of Judaism they represent. If the concern is these individuals are authentic but misguided than shouldn't one handle this delicate matter privately and pour over Torah together as in the days of old and more importantly shouldn't it be handled in a manner that is holy and in love? Honor is important.
5.) This congregation has existed for 12 years. It will continue to exist as a safe haven for those that are indeed Jewish and have been cast aside by their family, friends, and loved ones as well as a safe haven for those from the nations who do not find meaning or consistency in westernized Christianity that has no love for the Jewish Messiah in its way of everyday protocol. If Hashem did not want this congregation to continue to exist, it simply wouldn't but it remains and will continue to remain.
6.) Messianic Judaism is messy and complicated with many of its adherents and leaders non-Jewish which makes it a strong contrast to traditional Judaism thus bringing into questions any legitimacy of Messianic Judaism. Chavurat is different in that its leadership is Jewish and has clarity for direction of where Chavurat will go and exist over the next several years ,an authentic framework for Messianic Judaism as a whole to pattern itself after.

May God vindicate this congregation and its leaders in the Olam HaZeh. Regardless, they will be vindicated in the Olam HaBah. One of the leaders of this congregation, whom I know personally, is a true man of faith, sincerely desiring to walk in the footsteps of our Messiah and following the Torah of HaShem. Though we disagree on a certain important issue, this man is gracious, kind, peaceable, patient, and gentle. His desire since I have known him has consistently been to be a blessing and to give blessings.
