My family and I went downtown to try the new "Traylor Park" restaurant, but the wait time was two hours. So we ventured into the abyss and reluctantly endeavored Tondee's Tavern. What a mistake. Granted it was during restaurant week and the place was packed. The place has a nice decor and overall very inviting. I wish I could discuss the food because we never received any...not even the appetizer after sitting for +one hour. The drinks are fine, but that really doesn't give you any data to assess to make your decision to eat here or not. I did have a discussion with a couple who were in Savannah for their anniversary. They had just finished eating their main course and were fully engaged in eating their desert. About two bites into the chocolate contraption, the wife called the waiter over and had some discussion ( I didn't hear what was discussed), but she pushed it away and asked for the check. I asked how was their main meal. She stated they had eaten at a number of restaurants during their weekend outing and by far this was the worst. The Husband scrunched up his nose, puckered his lips, eyes brows tightened and simply shook his head with disgust. FINALLY: A $10 FEE IS APPLIED FOR SHARING A DISH! Can you believe this, even sharing with a three year old. Nevertheless, we ordered a dish for my 3 y/o who has an aversion to any food, except dessert. Did not matter though, after sitting for one hour and 15 minutes, we simply left in search for another place to entertain our gastric yearning.

This was my first time in Savannah and tried Tondee's from the online reviews. I was not disappointed! I tried the hush puppies and they were fantastic! For an entrée I had the Shrimp and Grits. The best! If I could have had fit in a second helping, I would have! My side was Savannah are Rice which was fantastic! If your on East Bay Street and need great food, head on down to Tondee's Tavern!

Sit at the bar with Tatiana, I'm not a tourist, but her smile and bubbly personality made me feel so welcome and at home. She was like that with every guest around me too. Also, do yourself a favor, try the peanut butter cheesecake!

The food was only decent, but the drink menu was pretty vast. Our server however, Alton, is hands down the best server that I have ever had. He was so sociable and told us all about the history of ghosts and traditions in the city. He was incredible and I'm sad that I'm not a local, because I would come see Alton every damn day.

Food was very so so, drinks were just ok. They were training today and the bartender was very rude to the new staff. Who I'd assume is the GM was in the backroom and was wearing grungy sweatpants, a tank top with a huge t-shirt with the sleeves cut off and flip flops... Which would have been fine but she actually came out and made customers drinks, as well as one for herself and was talking with customers dressed like that. It was something I would never wear out of the house and she was working in it... We were sort of ignored and had to ask for everything, we were never really checked on. The cheesecake is probably the only reason they're even still there. Cheesecake is great. But I'd avoid coming in there to eat.
