I've been referred to Dr. Cohen twice across a 10+ year span, both ending in positive experiences. First visit ended with a root canal on a molar that has been trouble free ever since. The procedure was painless and relatively comfortable, with Dr. Cohen explaining the process throughout. Second visit demonstrated the benefits of his conservative practice. After a thorough test of the tooth he determined no procedure was necessary. My referring dentist tells me that most referrals to an endodontist will end in a root canal, but that Dr. Cohen himself carefully determines whether it is needed. He also drills very small holes which is important in cases like mine, where a crown is already in place on the affected tooth. A friend told me years ago that when it comes to root canals, "he's the man". It's still true. His office is very comfortable and calming and his staff friendly and professional. Moreover, he's a very kind & charming individual. I recommend his practice highly.

I can only comment on his actions and ethics as a dental expert witness. He took $3,500 from me to be my expert witness in my malpractice lawsuit. Unfortunately the deal was verbal, I trusted him because he presented himself as a nice and ethical person when I met him at his Union Square office. I gave him a $3,500 check which he deposited to cash immediately after I left his office, a sign that his action was premeditated. He dropped his services 4 days later with a letter and without providing an expert report declaration he was paid for. His excuse was that he valued the opinion of the defense expert witnesses. He new the names of the defense expert witnesses in advance, he should have declined his services for conflict of interest before taking my money. Of course I could not stop payments on the check, caused it was deposited to cash. He literally 'stole' $3,500 which is lots of money for a retiree like me. I filed a complaint at the California Dental Board against me and waiting for an action. Please, never trust this person, at least not as a dental expert witness. Dr. Cohen put shame to the Hippocratic oath. Never trust this doctor, never!

Dr. Cohen agreed to evaluate and treat a damaged molar on the same day as my appointment with Dr. Edward Loev. His receptionist and he were both pleasant and attentive people to deal with. Dr. Cohen performed a complicated root canal procedure. Dr. Cohen is a kind, respectful, highly skilled, and quite distinguished dental surgeon. I would highly recommend.
