I'm in love with this beatnik bar. Chill vibe.

Fabulous atmosphere and range of cocktails. You can feel the history in this place. Table service and excellent and friendly staff.

A local iconic spot. Great bartenders with feisty attitudes, characters from every walk of life.
A 6am bar on weekends, and 8am during the week, this bar attracts some doozies!
If you run across Captain Cool, send a Guinness his way.
Bartenders here are famous in their own right. A GEM.

Hands down, the best bar that I've ever been to. It is such a laid back bar and you can instantly feel the beat history of this place when walking in the front door. It's hard not to get lost in the fact that Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassady frequented the same place. Hard to miss the "Vesuvio" mosaic on the floor's entryway and I love the mural on the wall outside on Jack Kerouac Alley.

A lot has changed in SF, but this is like stepping into a time machine - well worth a stop for a drink and you can venture to City Lights Bookstore next door.

This place is pretty rad. A nice, classical themed decor makes it nice an homey. Usually the crowd is pretty chill, which is what I prefer on my nights out. The staff is always busy, so don't expect them to sweet talk you too much, but they're definitely nice folk. They even gave us a huge discount on our cocktails when they ran out of coffee for the cocktails we wanted, not that the regular price of the cocktails is anything to frown at in the first place! Definitely one of my go to bars if I just want to relax after doing whatever other crazy thing I was up to in the Financial District.
