This is one of the oldest, original small neighborhood bars in SF. It's dark, and wood filled, with gorgeous antique lighting, period art posters, great bar tending skills and a nice mix of cool people.

Great places for drinks, the place is not to loud so you can actually have a conversation with friends.

Always feel like the bar is a bit understaffed, as it takes awhile to get a drink, but the drinks are always delicious, and well thought out. Trivia here is a riot (Tuesday nights.)

Stopped by for some amazing Bloody Mary's while in town for the day, Dave took great care of us and even kept the conversation going with great recomendations. Will come back every time I am in town. Adorable atmosphere and even better drinks.

Elixir is probably the nicest dive bar that I've ever been to. I mean, if it wasn't marketed as a dive bar, I wouldn't have even assumed it was one - to me it comes across as a charming neighborhood waterhole with a mean selection of whiskeys and a DIY bloody mary bar.
You're likely to have no issue finding your own table or spot at the bar on a Saturday afternoon, and the bartenders are friendly and good at what they do. We overheard a potential employee asking to be considered, and being told that the turnover rate is extremely low, because everyone is just so happy working there - gotta love that.
Solid drinks, comfortable bar stools, and reasonable prices - what's not to like?
