Great food and a Rochester staple. Space is pretty small so arrive early or with the expectation of waiting 30 minutes. Also, as of March 2017, they are a cash only location. There is an ATM on the premise that has a $2 fee.

Diner food, but "over the top" menu.. they take elements of what we love and, fly with it. It's not the,"contemporary" revinvented diner that copies diner waitress styles and sanitized menus. Delicious food and you akways feel welcomed. No pretense here. You see the cook flipping food...and he loves his work, As does the wait staff. I come here alone, or with friends and we all love it .
If you want parking right in front, go to one of those places in the suburbs.

Small diner. Needs some upgrades. Great food though. Waitress was right on the spot. If you're looking for great food and don't care about the building as much then this is the place.

Hole in the wall that is truly a gold mine. From some food perspectives not found elsewhere in Rochester, to the fair prices there really isn't a lot not to like! It was fun to sit at the dinner bar and watch my food being made. This place is always brimming full, but the waits are never too long. If the copious amounts of people waiting to get a taste doesn't convince you, one single bite of anything off the menu surely will. Nice upbeat place for a good old fashioned southern inspired breakfast.

An absolutely amazing experience! My family recently visited Rochester to see the Strong Museum of Play, watch the Red Wings and experience the zoo. The best experience? This spot! Yes, the Cuban sandwich is lights out and huge. Yes, they have grits, which I love (I may be Canadian, but visited Virginia to see family a lot as a child), but what truly makes this place is it's owner and staff. When I travel I hear a lot about how friendly Canada is, but in the Greater Toronto Area, we don't have a place like this and I wish we did. So friendly...

The food is great and the service is beyond amazing. They even remembered my 2 year old daughter's name and entertained her. I don't care if you run a 5 star restaurant, a Michelin star restaurant, or a food truck, you should visit here to see how it's done.

They don't just make you feel like a valued customer, they make you feel like family. Even if we aren't back for a long visit in Rochester for a while, but visiting family in Cape Cod, etc, we will be making a stop at James Brown's. I can't even knock the man for being a Yankees die-hard!
