The Berkeley is like every other historical hotel which is doing everything it can to keep up. Everything about it are okay, just behind the times. The rooms are spacious, but many aspects are in need of repair and updating. A perfect example is the old desk with one available outlet underneath. Additionally, some of the elevator buttons wouldn't light up and the toilet would run. At the end of the day, they place is okay, just not what they used to be. And don't expect reward points since they use a program I've never heard of.

Really enjoyed our stay. Our room on the 6th floor was a little small, but we enjoyed the terrace. Bed was comfortable, food was good. It's a very cozy hotel. The only real drawbacks: light leakage around the door was pretty bad. Not just along the floor, which is pretty normal and easily blocked by extra pillows, but all around the door frame. Also the directions on the hotel's web site take you to a parking garage. The hotel doesn't validate parking, so you're better off just pulling up in front and leaving your car with the valet.

Marc is the most pleasant staff member I have ever had the pleasure of speaking with! Very respectable handsome young man, I can tell he really strives to do well and really values his position at the Berkeley Hotel. The other valets on the other hand..

Great service and rooms for a reasonable price. Especially in the city. Used Hotel tonight to find a room here and the room was great. Beds are huge. Room is a decent size, bathroom was clean. They have a gorgeous lobby. Only thing was the room needed just a bit more light.

I would not come back to this hotel. I would recommend staying somewhere else that is more updated-- a chain like Holiday Inn or any Hilton branch. I highly recommend the Quirk Hotel if you have $300+/night budget as the service is excellent, clean, and offer $20 valet parking. It's a hassle to call from the room for the valet get your car, which can take up to 15-20 min. At Quirk, you can just have someone bring it around at the lobby, and it's never taken more than 10 min. The room is very spacious, with the living area across from the bed (definitely a plus!), but it's REALLY dark (very straining on the eyes) and the bathroom light isn't that great either, despite the fact that the bathrom is the brightest part of the room (ladies, good luck doing your makeup). We woke up with a $35 valet parking receipt slipped under the door, after initially being told it was $23 (very surprised to see our sedan being "oversized" vehicle on the receipt, so had to sort that out. Again, more hassle). There was also used mouth wash in the bathroom, which was pretty gross. The housekeeping staff should really make sure that they restock the mouth wash.
