We've been to this restaurant a few times now, and while the food is OK, the management could benefit from putting a few basic customer-service principles into practice.
1. Open on time. It's OK to open a few minutes early even, but not 5 minutes late. It sends a message that you don't care about your customer's time, and that you aren't really prepared to serve them.
2. Do you take reservations or not? We were at the restaurant at 9:30 on Sunday morning (Mother's Day), and were asked whether we had a reservation. No, we answered, your website says you don't accept reservations for Brunch. They said, "Well, we do for special occasions such as Mother's Day." Then you need to state your policy clearly on your website.
3. Pay attention to your customers, and act like you're glad to see them, rather than make us feel like we've interrupted something more important. Case in point: we were waiting to be seated, when the young man at the front desk received a phone call. Rather than put the caller on hold, he proceeded to talk to him, and left us standing there. We've seen this young man there before, and a month ago were told he's in training. Clearly his "training" hasn't resulted in any improvement in the areas of common sense and customer service.
4. Anticipate likely customer needs. Ten minutes after opening, two people at our table ordered coffee, and were told they hadn't made it yet. Seriously? You're serving brunch but you haven't gotten around to making the coffee yet? Portlandia-types might find this acceptable, but to me it's one more example of a lack of concern about taking care of your paying customers.

I hope the management takes these points as constructive criticism. I would like to see the restaurant succeed, but you need to get a clue about some basics of customer service. Without improvements, I doubt I will keep returning.

The beet burger royal was fantastic. Will be in Portland next week and can't wait to go back. Unbelievable food, creative menu and super friendly staff. And I am not a vegetarian nor a vegan. Can't wait to go back. See you next week.
