What a let-down! My wife and I heard of its great reputation and had to make a reservation two months in advance. The restaurant, itself, and, the front-of-the-house staff had an air of excellence, but, the choppy execution of the food did not justify the somewhat condescending menu chock-full of unnecessary five-dollar words for simple ingredients (In the Brussels sprouts salad they use "pumpkin seeds," and in the caramelized Bavarian, they use "pepitas." Literally the same ingredient; one is in English, one is in Spanish; and for no reason, as both are American dishes.) I had to pull out my phone and Google about 10% of the words on the menu in a restaurant that allows blue jean attire. Our wood oven roasted mussels smelled and tasted like low-tide. The shells were cracking and falling apart just picking them up. My steak, cooked rare (the way I like it; still mooing) was tough. My wife's Artic char was good; tender. Go down the road to Walter's for food that is twice as good without the fluff.

The old antique building that houses Fore Street is beautifully restored, celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary we could not have chosen a better place. Everything was delicious and beyond expectations.
Thank you for a memorable evening

Always a dining experience. The food, cocktails, and service never disappoint. An ever changing menu with some repeating favorites. The price point matches the quality and service but you can dine for a reasonable or extravagant fee; your choice. We return again and again. Make reservations a month in advance at least.

Long standing favorite in Portland. We stayed in the lounge and enjoyed cocktails and dessert. However, I have eaten here and the food is terrific. Excellent service, great atmosphere. Love this place.

My wife and I had dinner here the other night for our anniversary and it was fantastic. We didn't have a reservation because the trip to Portland was last minute but arrived early and got one of the walk-in tables. The blue fish and halibut entrees were cooked in the wood fired oven on piping hot skillets with beautiful seasonings and paired with delicious vegetables. The pork belly and fettuccine appetizers were delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. The service is great, all of the staff are friendly and looking to please. It was great fun being able to sit so close to the beautiful open kitchen and wood fired oven and grill, watching the chefs do their magic. This was not our first time here and won't be or last. Highly recommended.
