Thank you Dr Holt and your team for taking such good care of Emaline! You took the time to explain in detail, with drawings, the procedure that Emaline needed to save her life. Your honest and caring approach made a very difficult situation more bearable. I knew the minute that I picked up the phone to make my first appointment at Penn vet I made the right decision after meeting Dr Holt and his team I knew I made the right decision. Emaline required surgery for a liver shunt, that was mid August, she had the surgery on August 31 and on September 2 she was sent home. She looks great, she is eating, snuggling and wanta to play! I see Emaline making a full recovery and being the light of my life for years to come. Thank you Penn vet, thank you Dr. Holt you have no idea how happy you've made me and everyone who loves Emaline.

Will rip you off no matter if you have an estimate (which is a contract but they will tell you differently) and tell you that you are the one who screwed up. Unlike a normal vet, they won't thoroughly advise you of the cost of your pets stay. If you are a nonprofit organization with board members they will charge you the most maximum amount and not tell you about the balance until later because they know you have the $$$. Shame on you.

Great emergency care service. Sadly I had to visit twice with terrible outcomes each time. But the staff really cares and are there for you and your loved one. They even sent a hand written card in mail as a follow up.

Penn Vet has a knowledgeable staff, but unfortunately there is very little consistent or meaningful doctor-client face time. I have used their services extensively, mostly from necessity as their equipment and specialists are the most extensive. While individual staff members are generally kind, the disorganization, arbitrary pricing, and boiler-plate methods of many of the younger doctors, make this hospital a trying choice. I have considerable experience working in these environments and unfortunately this place prioritizes their time and money over the legitimate concerns of clients. This being said, as far as minimum standards go, such as will they save my dog? Yes, probably, but not without having to badger them to do so. I want to add, do not place a review if you have had a mere vaccine appointment or wound dressing - my experiences come from life threatening emergency situations where I was forced to deal with this hospital or risk losing time and thus my dog.

Be careful about price. It is a good move to get a FULL estimate IN WRITING before the procedure is done. I received a verbal estimate of $250-$300 from the doc. Ended up paying $1,138 for a UTI and kidney stones diagnosis/treatment. The guy next to me in line said he was quoted a price of $1500-$2000 for an operation. Bill came to over $4,000. Service is good and thorough but they will take you to town when the bill comes. And all bills must be paid in full at time of service.
