Stop by Shank’s Original for a highly reputed cheesesteak and an old-school South Philly experience transplanted to the waterfront. The tradition of Shank’s dates back to 1962 when Shank’s and Evelyn’s (“Shank’s”) opened its doors to the Italian Market near 10th and Catherine Streets. In 2009, Shank’s closed it’s original location and opened a new location on Columbus Boulevard. The new location is right at the base of Pier 40 on the Delaware River.

Steak sandwiches were very good. However I'm am knocking them because counter help were kind of jerks. We got there about 45 min before closing and we had a Groupon deal. I don't know if the attitude was because of the deal the coupon or because they were closing soon but felt like we were annoyance.when I went in for a refill on my drink and the daggers I got spoke volume. We ate at a outside table at 10 minutes to closing they were locking up and leaving.

Only got the 3rd star because the fries were GOOD. The steaks need work fellas. Quantity of meat needs to improve. John's is just up the road. Why should I come here!? Still better than Geno's tho.

I feel like shanks doesn't get no respect. Their chicken cutlets are some of the best. Their cheese steak is very good as well. I didn't love the fries, but they have parking, a place to sit, and are on a main road. If you're in a car shanks is a great place to go.
