We fled the Penrose in abject horror and disgust the second night the fire alarms went off for two hours starting at 3 am. On the way out, the front desk attendant informed us that he was so fed up last month when this happened that he refused to come to work the next day. This means the fire alarms went off in the middle of the night at least three times within one month. If you value your sleep and sanity, avoid this hotel at all costs.
The elevator was broken. The other one had lights that didn’t work. It was extremely slow. We had to allow at least ten minutes of travel time to make it to the lobby and eventually started taking the 11 flights of stairs instead. Our toilet had a broken seal and flushed incessantly. Breakfast was disgusting coffee and bad powdered eggs.
On Friday night, my key didn’t work. I took the 15
-20 minute elevator round trip from the room to the front desk to get a new key. They didn’t ask for any verification, but did give me a new key. It didn’t work. Neither did the next two keys from the next two trips. I asked them to come let me in, and they could not until 7 am when the cleaning and/or maintenance person would arrive.
Do. Not. Stay. Here.

South Philadelphia. It was 2am and I took a shuttle from the airport so I didn't see much. The shuttle driver was nice. The room was decent for the price, but definitely not a high end place. I tried calling the hotel multiple times but never got them to answer.

Ordinary hotel in an ordinary part of the city. Rooms look old, but are clean and spacious. Not the most quiet hotel. Price is good for Philadelphia. Bus brings you to the corner. Subway is a 12-15 min walk. Chickie's and Pete's is nearby, that's a good thing.

elevator was the only big issue....only one working .....about a 5 minute wait each time
room was clean. no smell. beds were comfortable. bring your own towel.
don't expect anything special but great location for sporting events.

Inflated price for a convention. Quick search of Google shows this hotel is priced at 67 dollars a night, even that is too much. Bathroom, toilet leaked all night, shower head had low pressure. I had a room with double beds, but only had enough towels for 1 person. In the room the holes in the lower part of the wall were hard to look pass, even with the amazing 29inch CRT tv with half the channels off. Breakfast was great, if you love bread. They had white bread, wheat bread, bagels, English muffins, assorted mini muffins and other cold pastries. There were 3 types of cereal and pounds and pounds of semi warm eggs. In all, if you were exhausted enough, or drunk enough, the noise level from the street and the constant slamming of doors (so that the old doors could properly close and lock) it wasn't the worst place I've spent the night.
