This was honestly the worst dining experience I've had in years. I've been to Bridgid's before and, remembering the amazing food, I suggested the place to my boyfriend for our anniversary dinner...even after reading a few questionable reviews saying the place has changed. And boy, have things changed.

We made reservations for 7:15 on Friday, which turned out to be a good idea because the place was packed. We were seated almost right away but it took about 15 minutes for our waitress to come over. We placed our drink, app, and dinner orders...and things promptly went downhill from there. It took 45 minutes to get our appetizer (the Tuscan fries) which was honestly disgusting (cold, with so much balsamic reduction it was overwhelming and I like balsamic!) but we were starving and scarfed it down. Almost an hour after we were seated we got our drinks. Around 8:45, as we were finally working up our nerve to ask for the check, our dinners arrived. They too were lukewarm and disgusting; my boyfriend ordered spaghetti that tasted like it came out of a can and I ordered a ravioli special that, like the fries, was completely doused in balsamic vinegar even though there was no mention of it in the description (where was the truffle sauce I was promised??). Neither of us finished, and after a few bites we (literally) waved down our waitress...who naturally brought us our bill right away even though she had never checked on us throughout our meal.

Absolutely nothing was pleasant about our experience. The service was beyond dreadful; the two waitresses were clearly overworked and miserable. It took us over an HOUR to get our drinks, something that you should receive within minutes of sitting down. The food was not only disappointing (and definitely not worth the ridiculous wait) but gross. The ambiance has definitely declined over the years; what was once cozy is now just divey and the noise level made it impossible to hold a conversation with my boyfriend, so we couldn't even keep ourselves amused while we waited. At least all the other patrons (minus the very drunk bachelorette party next to us) were bored/angry and constantly checking their phones as well. While I wouldn't wish our experience on anyone else at least I know it wasn't just us!

Needless to say, my boyfriend and I will be having do-over for our anniversary dinner. I just wish I hadn't wasted $75 on such an awful experience. If you want Italian, I recommend Luigi's down the street. They have the same ambiance but better pasta AND better service, for a fraction of the cost.

Really decent portions. Yucca fries, fried oysters, chicken sandwich, breqd pudding- all good stuff.

This may be my favorite bar in the neighborhood. Comfortable, not outrageously loud attributable to no college kids, I guess. Great happy hour specials. I had paperadelle pasta with meat sauce and a sunny side egg that was to die for. $4 draft craft beer that I wish I had remembered the name of and a great bartender. I will definitely go back!

I've known this place for years and seen it change over time but one thing has alway remained the same... it is one of the best local bars I have ever called home and now the food is on pare with the atmosphere and beer selection. This is MY favorite place in Philly... It is very easy to get a conversation going with its rap-around bar.

This is a review for brunch, not dinner.

Brunch was decent. I had the Chicken and Waffles. The description on the menu was a lot more enticing than the actual dish. The waffle itself tasted good. It was thin compared to what I would expect a homemade waffle to be. The buttermilk fried chicken was 6 chicken wings on top without sauce. They were mostly all dry except for one that wasn't over-fried. As the main part of the dish, I found it sorely lacking in taste. They were really just chicken wings without sauce. On the menu it also said it was accompanied by a maple gravy. In a normal chicken and waffles, you get a topping of a white chicken gravy. I expected the same thing here, but with a maple flavor added to it. There was no "gravy" as described in the dictionary as, "a sauce made from cooked meat juices together with stock and other ingredients." It was literally maple syrup with some red pepper flakes. The waffle was saturated with syrup as in, after I was finished there was about 3 table spoons of syrup left over on my plate. This took away all crisp from the waffle and was way too sweet. I think this could have just been an isolated incident as I saw someone else with the same dish and it didn't have as much syrup as mine did. I also made a joke to the waitress at the end and she apologized about it. I didn't, but I wouldn't blame someone for asking to take it back based on the syrup alone. I'm not over-exaggerating when I say the dish was literally over saturated.

The brunch special drinks were ok. I couldn't taste the alcohol in my Bloody Mary, but that's to be expected from a drink with as many overpowering flavors like a bloody mary. The mix they used isn't the best though. My girlfriend's mimosa was probably 80% orange juice, but what can you expect from a $3 mimosa?

Overall I don't see any reason to go here for brunch over a place in the immediate area like London Grill where the drinks and food are way better and a similar price. The only draw to Bridgid's was the brunch special drinks and they were sorely lackluster. I'd rather pay more for a drink that actually has alcohol in it.

TL;DR - Brunch food was meh, drinks were watered down.
