Caring staff, good reminders about upcoming appointments

There's always room for improvement, but overall, I am very satisfied with my care. For acute care I go to Lake Nona now, but for routine care, Baldwin is great for me. Specialty care, like dermatology, still takes a bit to get in to see someone, but they are improving. It's understandable to a certain point, they have all of the influx of us OIF/OEF veterans. There's a lot of us.

Excellent service, professional staff. Very committed with vet population and their families.

An absolute hole of misery and misguided employees. Unprofessional staff lazing about. VA hospitals need to be shut down and eligible veterans provided with civilian health insurance. Building a new facility in Lake Nona does nothing to remedy the systemic problems in the VA.

Garbage! You have to have a referal from your doctor just to get an appointment eith your doctor. The recordings don't even offer services for women's health. I was denied my ultrasound b/c they wouldn't allow my 7 y/o daughter to come and sit inside the room; I can understand a little child. I was told this only ever happened once before. This VA as I assume many are stuck in the Cold War,Vietnam, Storm , Shield era veterans mind set. I'm a single parent and there are many more young vets who are like me that have unique situations as mine. That's part of what you do in the medical world is to work with or around unique and sometimes chaotic situations to make sure the patient is cared for. They failed terribly at doing that. I could have a cancerous mass inside me right now, and b/c of their policy (which I asked for a reference as to where it was written, and they couldn't produce it) which is senseless. As I explained to the lady, what would be the difference in me having people in my ultrasound if I were pregnant and wanted to share that moment-NOTHING! Every time I've tried calling to relay a message to my doctor or specialty doctor, I've NEVER received a call back with a response. I was told to go to the ER by my doctor who couldn't see me b/c he is booked out for 3 months, but when I asked if the VA would cover it, they stated "Maybe". Really? Who's best interest are they looking out for. And if it's a staffing problem then maybe they should correct that by hiring more people to bridge the gap. I know a lot of Hospital Corpsmen, or Medics in the Reserves who would happily take those orders to be of support. SMH
