Sunday buffet is amazing. Food is fresh and delicious. All of it! Desserts and bottomless sodas/mimosas included. Worth every penny.

My goodness the oxtails and chicken were amazing. I also ordered sides that consisted of yams that's were great, not too sweet, stuffing that wasn't too dry, and string beans that were satisfying. The meat was tender, I looove oxtails, and their oxtails were meaty and they cooked it in a delicious gravy. The chicken was baked to perfection and very tender.

Great soul food experience. I ordered the oxtail which comes with rice&beans, mac&cheese and green beans. Mac and cheese was good. Green beans were ok, amazing once I put it in my gravy. My oxtail was amazingly delicious with a perfect gravy and rice. My husband had the short rib with mac and cheese and cabbage that has ham in it. Who doesn't like meat with their veggies? The lemonade was addictive. My waitress service was mediocre at best. My cornbread came with my meal. She never checked on us after our food was delivered to our table even though she passed our table several times. She brought the lemonade we ordered earlier when we were almost done with our meal and even then she dropped it off and walked away. Next we saw her, she asked if we wanted a box and then delivered the check. So why did I still rate 5 stars? Her colleague, Kim, I noticed was providing outstanding service! While I was waiting on my lemonade and cornbread, I watched her deliver her patrons orders promptly and with an appealing attitude. She even took off the bread plates without my soliciting it. I was so excited by her work ethic that I tipped her way more than my waitress. We ate around 3p so restaurant wasn't crazy busy.

The food is good. I have especially enjoyed the short ribs with gravy and the pork chops. Do pair them with the candied yams, and then anything else you want. That said, prices have increased noticeably over the past several months, partially due to factors outside of their control. Be that as it may, when you are paying chicken-shack prices, it is easier to forgive some shortfalls. When you begin paying sit-down-with-a-bottle-of-wine prices, you start to expect timely and courteous phone etiquette, for instance, or utensils with your order. You expect to see an evolution of service equivalent to the escalation in prices. To this end, Southern Cafe is very much a work in progress, but make no mistake: The food is good.

Excellent food. This is my friend's favorite soul food joint, and I'm inclined to agree. Big portions and probably the best fried chicken I've had in NorCal. I loved their cornbread, and the oxtail was excellent too. Everything we had was great, even the cabbage. I hope to come again soon. The food takes a while to come out, but that's pretty par for the course.
