This is a great interactive Museum for kids of all ages. Who am I kidding, us adult kids also. Very well done place.

Totally awesome...! Especially if your child likes trains. An AMAZING collection of model trains. The rest of the museum was great also. It was $15 for an active duty family of three to go to the museum. Great time!

As a family we loved this place on a recent visit to the area. We highly recommend a visit. Great service, friendly staff and lots and lots of things for kids to do. Our kids primarily enjoyed the trains area but there's lots more to see and do. Other than that the only thing they need is a good food concession they said it was under renovations...

In the museum's defense, it was a weekend where they were offering a discount but it was super crowded. More geared toward younger 4-6 year old kids. The facility could have used more staff engaging the children or trying to keep the displays in order. Honestly I think it was okay but I don't feel like I need to go back.

Whether you are young or old this is a museum that delights for anyone young at heart. There are plenty of interactive exhibits to play on or with, a grocery store, a shipping platform you can move crates mechanically, a bubble blowing area with one machine that blows a huge bubble around you while you pull on the rope, a science area, a theatre area, and a planetarium. I took my six year old granddaughter and she had a blast.
Also I recommend parking at Waterside city parking in Norfolk and taking the ferry over so you don't have to worry about the toll or parking in Portsmouth. Get off at the first stop and it's not even a two block walk to the museum. Taking the ferry made the trip feel even more special.
