The absolute worst of any hotel I’ve ever seen. There is a number of design flaws that make this hotel unreasonable. First, the hallways feature open windows, which means you can’t close them even during winter. So you step out of your room into the cold. Second, you can’t turn the heat on if the temperature outside is not cold enough, but I assure you it was very cold that night. The rooms don’t even have a desk chair... they have an ottoman instead. There isn’t even a desk lamp. The sink is in the room, which I’ve seen before, but still inconvenient. The bed is tiny, though the room is not that small.
I thought this hotel was newer, but in fact it’s really worn out, furniture is scratched and old and overall it doesn’t have a good vibe.
It’s not that close to the subway — 8-9 minute walk to E, G, M and I most certainly discourage anyone to stay here!

Good gravy. I'll try to not be overly negative in my review. Starting with the positives...1) the view is stellar. 2) The staff is extremely helpful and tried super hard. 3) Good water pressure in the shower. And...that's it. Moving on to the negatives and why you should stay away from this place. 1) You may notice a cold draft when you exit the elevator and begin walking to your room (after guessing which way to go because there are no signs to indicate which rooms are on which side). Why? That's because this shoddily-constructed hotel doesn't have an enclosed hallway. One side of it is just a plastic tarp with holes in it. I'm certain it leads to drafty rooms, which is why the room has heated floors. 2) Like the sound of that heated floor? Well, don't fall in love with it too much because it doesn't work. At least not in room 1109. 3) After walking in from the chilly hallway, we wanted to be in a warm room. It wasn't to be. The obnoxiously loud vent was set to 60 degrees and only churned out cold air. We shut it off and asked the front desk to look at it. They couldn't fix it, gave us a space heater from 1960 that only worked when on low, and promised to fix it the next morning. By 1 PM the next day, no one showed up so I reminded the front desk. Whatever they did didn't work because cold air only came out again and this time, we couldn't shut it off. 4) Have a food or beverage you'd like to keep cold? In room 1109 you'll have to do that by putting it on the vent spewing only cold air because the mini-fridge doesn’t work. 5) In keeping with the hotel theme, the entire room is just shoddy. The carpet is peeling and dirty, there are weird stains on the comforter including something that looked like a period stain, stains on the wall, worn and peeling fake leather furniture, cheap fixtures, thin walls that can’t block out the noise of jack-hammering on the street and other loud vents in the hotel, holes in the bathroom wall because it looked like someone made a mistake during construction and didn’t bother to fix it, and obviously a lot of broken appliances. I can forgive the small room size but come on Z Hotel...at least try to keep everything in working order. I realize this is not a five-star hotel and I didn't expect it to be. But for the price paid, we deserved functioning appliances. This place wants to be upscale but is cutting every corner possible to get there. It’s a disgrace to consumers. Look elsewhere.

I only visited the rooftop bar area, which is pretty nice. The only thing I didn't like about the bar area is that it seemed to lack a cohesive theme. There is a swanky looking bar counter and wooden picnic tables. In my opinion, I think they should get tables to match the bar counter. I understand they are advertised as a beer garden, but I think it can be so much more.

Lobby and lower lobby bar/lounge/restaurant are great. Love the decor and setup. Staff is very helpful and welcoming. They have a free shuttle that takes you across the bridge and drops you off in the middle of some great shopping and picks you back up. The views are amazing. Rooms are small, the cleaning could have been better, as well as some of the towels and furniture are tattered.
