A very disappointing experience. I booked an Alaskan Cruise for my family of 10 costing almost $30,000. I was busy and assumed it would be easier to have someone else handle all of the details.
When we arrived in Seattle we were told that we should book a driver to take us to the hotel. When we arrived the driver called and arrived on time. He then informed me that he only took Cash.... The cost for the short ride to the hotel was $18.00 per person and we had 10 people. As we were loading up to go to the hotel I noticed a sign that said we could get a taxi for much less than that, Why didn't our agent know that? That was an expensive cost that we did not need because there were taxis going to our hotel that would have saved us a great deal of money
When we arrived on the ship there were several things that should have been handled like getting us our boarding passes and luggage tags. I did not receive anything from the agency. When we picked up our packet none of those documents were in the package. Trusting the agency, I did not bother to check for the necessary documents until the night before.
We booked 2 very expensive excursion one of which was the dog sledding and helicopter ride. The morning of the excursion because our excursion was booked for 8:00 AM they had to cancel it. The weather was fine but we did have fog in the mountains which according to the ship it was not unusual to have the excursion cancelled because of it being booked so early in the morning. It happened again on another excursion due to the early time that the excursion was booked. Our agency should have known that and booked a different port with a later excursion for the helicopter trip since the choppers were going out an hour later. We missed this experience that my entire family was looking forward to. Same issue with a boat ride.
When I arrived home I contacted the owner. After several calls and a myriad of excuses. ( I had to call her she only called me back once) The rest of the calls were initiated by me.
Being in the customer service industry all of my life I had always handled any customer complaints with a strong apology and always asked what if anything I could do to make things right.
None of these things were asked of me. The only thing I got from the owner was excuses. I mention to her that the least she could do would be to offer me some compensation for the mistakes made by her agency.
She then said that she would send my a $50. gift certificate to Ruth's Chris Steak House and a $200 airline voucher. That was very little compensation for the issues but I thanked her and decided to put the issue behind me.
I am still waiting for the Gift Certificate and the Airline voucher. My last conversation with this very uncaring and unconcerned owner was in late September. How someone can stay in business and deliver such poor customer service I cannot understand
I encourage those who are considering using this agency to be very cautions because their mission statement obviously does not include taking care of the customer and taking responsibility for any mistake made by their agents.

I used this agency for multiple trips with very minimal issues until I decided to book a trip to Africa; from the beginning it was a headache. My usual agent was inundated with several reservations so I willingly agreed to book with another agent, after a few hours in the office we finally were able to agree upon a booking that sufficed me. It was slightly different than the destinations I originally wanted but I was content. The real problems arose when I decided that I wanted to change my seating class on the flights. When I left the office after making the flight changes to my reservations I was under the impression that the remaining balance do was one price, yet when I came later to pay for the trip in full the price was significantly different. I ultimately felt bamboozled and decided to forego the trip. A trip that I was very excited about. I left this agency feeling quite disappointed.

I've happily used Travel Central over the years for no-hassle travel plans. I've worked with a few different agents for various trips and they've always been very knowledgeable and given great tips on what to see and do at the various destinations - Hawaii, Alaska, Scotland, Ireland, Mexico and soon Russia!
Melinda helped me with my honeymoon cruise to Hawaii - and even helped me set up a cool honeymoon registry where my wedding guests were able to buy me excursions that I was able to use on my trip. I couldn't imagine a better way to connect with our wedding guests - them providing us with the funds to make lasting memories of surfing lessons and volcano tours that we were able to share with them when we came back!
I even unfortunately had to use my travel insurance on a recent trip and Katie helped me through the whole process, coordinating with the insurance provider to make sure I had all of the details and forms for an quick and easy claim. Trust me, when you have the troubles that cause you to use your travel insurance, having a nice and helpful voice on the line to take care of wrapping up insurance claims is a dream! :)
I will always work with the team at Travel Central for great trip ideas and easy planning.
