Since moving to Manteca from the Silicon Valley, I've been looking for a Conservative Synagogue to attend. I came across Congregation Beth Shalom (CBS) in Modesto by Internet search and contacted the Congregation.
I sent an email and immediately I received a response back from Rabbi Bochner. He invited me to Shabbat Services that Saturday. I was quite nervous but the moment I stepped in I was warmly welcomed by Rabbi Bochner and the Congregation members!
That following Monday, I emailed to make and appointment to see Rabbi Bochner. Two days later I was in his office talking about my interest of embracing my Jewish identity (conversion). Rabbi Bochner answered all my questions and provided me with literature about the conversion program at CBS.
It has been a couple of months now studying under Rabbi, having started CBS Adult education, attending weekly Shabbat Services, learning Hebrew, and getting involved in the community, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
Since I began, I have attended Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Shmini Atzeret, Simchat Torah services and I can't wait for upcoming Chanukah!
If you are looking for a friendly and warm Congregation I hope you visit Congregation Beth Shalom in Modesto!
