This vet is absolutely amazing. The staff is always friendly. I take my rats to see Dr. Shoni Card and she is wonderful. She has fixed a broken leg on one of my rats and removed tumors on another. They're incredibly inexpensive as well. I live North of Helena and I drive all the way down here anytime one of my critters needs a doctor because they're that good.

They've always taken great care of my dog Cicero. He's had a couple of overnight visits from eating things he shouldn't and they take such good care of him. They're upfront about cost, and when I've called for advice they're fantastic.

Pruyn Veterinary Hospital is no longer owned or run by a Pruyn. In fact when Dr Pruyn sold to the NATIONAL veterinary company he was informed that he could stay on in a part time capacity. He was then, very quickly, forced into full on retirement. It is unfortunate that the national company does not have the same set of values that the founder of the practice had, and they do not have any respect for the name on the sign.

Our dog was paralyzed from an accident. It was on a Saturday and our normal vet wasn't opened so Pruyn was suggested. The prognosis wasn't good. Dr. Schaumberg suggested we leave her over the weekend. Options were explained well but he has the bedside manners if an ice cube. After 2 weeks we had to make the painful decision of euthanasia. The staff was very kind and compassionate. We paid our bill and we're told it would be 2-3 weeks or longer to get her ashes. One month later I called and was on hold for 10 minutes. Called back and told her not to put me on hold again. She put the phone down and went to look for them. She was polite and apologized and said the ashes were there and I could pick them up. Is this good customer service? My experience with the Dr. and the wait time with an appointment was terrible. The breed info on her chart was wrong and the doc kept calling her a he. They are understaffed and the run their patients through like cattle.

The vets and staff are great. Prices are reasonable and payment arrangements can be made. They offer information on health insurance for your pet(s). They have all prescriptions on hand. There is an after-hours clinic and also a weekend/holiday clinic to help with issues that arise. If you are fostering an animal through AniMeals or other agency, Dr. Minot may give you a break on his fee. The reason I give this vet clinic 3 stars instead of 5 is for wait times. Their waiting room will be packed with dogs that are merely leashed, dogs that may be large, in pain, aggressive. They get them back to exam rooms as quickly as they can, or ask that the pet wait in the person's car, but I have waited up to 2 hours in such uncomfortable circumstances to have my pet seen. My pet, usually a guinea pig due to Dr. Card, who cares for "exotic" pets, occasionally a cat, is forced to wait in a carrier, no food, no water, unable to stretch its legs. Even scheduling first thing in the morning is no guarantee that your pet will get right in. There are definitely scheduling issues at this vet clinic.
