Had to bump this down a star because they just changed their menu. All the burgers are the smaller kind that used to only be in the $5 basket and the fries aren't fresh cut anymore, they're frozen. They also removed the corn dogs from the menu entirely and the tacos from the happy hour menu. Even the chili is less soupy and more chunky now.
But the drinks are still cheap and it's still an enjoyable place to hang out. It's purely a neighborhood joint, mostly frequented by Como folks of which I am one. A zillion U of M students have lived in this neighborhood and it's been their bar for a year or two and then they graduate. Nobody has ever come from uptown to go here and that's the charm. It might seem lame but then you find yourself coming here every week because it's too cold out to go anywhere else and then you become familiar with it and it's not so bad anymore. And you can't argue with a $2.75 PBR until 9pm that's back to $3 at 10 - drinks are only full price for an hour - Sporty's baby.

Sporty's is a great place for a burger, a beer, karaoke and getting together with friends. The service can be slow, paradoxically when they are less busy, and their seating could be improved.
However, it's best-in-class in the neighborhood for simple pub fare. Try the parmesan tater tots!

This is a great place, advertised for what it is - a dive bar. Service is friendly. The menu has a good variety of bar foods. Burgers, sandwiches primarily. I was really happy to see a black bean burger - I didn't expect that at this place. Food portions are generous! I couldn't finish. I was also really happy to see they have a good rotating selection of craft beer. I was expecting to only see Bud, Miller, etc. but they had Bells, Surly, and Indeed as well. And the beer prices were good. $5.25 for craft beer, with a dollar off for happy hour. They even offer pitchers, which mist places dont do any more. I can see why it's a popular place!

I work just a few blocks from Sporty's and get lunch here a couple times a month. The atmosphere is not the most inviting, kind of dark and dingy.
But it's a dive bar, what do you expect?
Food is fantastic. For the price, the burgers are some of the best in town. Never once in all my times of eating here have I left dissatisfied. Definitely plan on continuing to come here

I cannot rave about Sporty's enough. It has been the go-to for my roommates and I the whole time we've lived in Como. From grabbing dinner to staying out late for karaoke, I've never had a bad experience. The food is excellent (especially the happy hour menu), the tap list is great, and the wait staff is fun and always remembers us. I'll be so sad to leave the neighborhood and not be able to walk over, but I can guarantee I'll be a regular for life!
