Went here for late night happy hour with karaoke. Really fun place, hip decor, kind and helpful servers. Some of the customers / singers were actually good! The food was great — I had bacon mac and cheese with enormous chunks of bacon and rich, creamy cheese. My friend had a Moscow mule which she said was perfect.

I attend a birthday party for a friend fiancé which was a group of 12 or more and this was my first time trying the smack shack. I liked that they offered valet parking due to being downtown and I didn't have to look for parking which was also very reasonable. When I arrived to the reserve party table I didn't like that there was not enough lighting and had to use my phone flashlight, which I feel they should make adjustment so that people can see the menu. The restaurant was a very pleasant, and cool environment overall but the waitress seem to be overly stress and irritated. Which I don't know if it was due to the large party but it was very uncomfortable. The Birthday man cousin brought in 2 different cakes that she made and they charged $1.50 a person to have a piece just for them to cut it which was mind-blowing to me because we could of cut it ourselves. I ordered the jambalaya which I can honestly say was very delicious and tasty. I also tried the Hurricane cocktail and that was also good. I can say the prices was reasonable but for some of the items on the list was a little over priced. I don't think I would try it again honestly due to bad customer services and feeling rushed by the waitress.

Smack Shack is a regular destination in North Loop and always a great experience. The staff is awesome, from Larry up front to Josh engaging all the guests and ensuring everyone is taken care of. The food is great, the drinks are always well done and the crowd is balanced. Holly is at the wheel should you decide to try your luck and even if the odds aren't in your favor, Adam can make a perfect consolation cocktail.

On a Sunday night, group of seven, we had to wait at least 15 minutes every time we had any request - water, drinks, dessert, checks - making our meal take 2 1/2 hours. At these prices I would expect a lot more attention and focus on customers.

The vibe of this place is incredible. The outdoor patio makes the experience even more enjoyable. My girlfriend and I tried the lobster rolls and were extremely impressed. I highly recommend going with the smack shack original. Pricing is very fair for seafood.
