I could say a lot of good things about this place but I'll just say, in my opinion, it's the best dorm on campus.

More modern than the East Bank housing, but a bit of a walk if most of your classes are on the other side of the river.

The best hall at UMN full of genuinely artistic and kind people. Great, spacious rooms with an emphasis on community. Also, the best dining hall on campus.

I loved living here. Great location-- near food on the West Bank, easy to bike many places (on or off campus, close to bus stops. Even nearby access to the river and the park down there. A nice bike or walking trail along the river to the Mill City Ruins, stone arch and then across it to Dinkytown. The inside was very roomy (stayed in a double in the original building). Natural light through big Windows. Cafeteria was pretty good! On par with Bailey in St Paul. Seventeenth had better food sometimes, but sometimes Middlebrook had dishes that were even better than Seventeenth's. A nice computer lab, convenience store, bike storage, 2 shares kitchens, many public sinks and microwaves on every floor, clean bathrooms shared with about four people, felt pretty private. Also the location feels safe and tucked away from campus.
