I understand they won't let you in if your looking like a bum. But how stupid is it how they won't let you in just because your not wearing heels? They didn't let my girlfriend in because of it but luckily we had heels in the car. Anyways they have a dance floor area that they don't let people in...umm why? I guess it's their VIP area but they close off half of the bar and don't let people in unless you pay. Also if I'm paying $15 for a "drink" I expect a drink. Not a cup of ice, coke and a dash of rum. I been to better bars. Don't waste your time and money here. You deserve better

I have lived in Brickell for 3 years and was very excited to meet some friends at El Capo for a Saturday night out. When I arrived I had the security put his hands around my neck because I tried walking through the COMPLETELY disorganized entrance not realizing there was a cover charge. After I made it clear that I wasn't trying to sneak into the venue I asked if I could speak to a manager. The security guard said there are no managers here and that I would need to pay a $30 cover charge if I wanted to remain on the property.
I was persistent in speaking to a manager and finally Abel came out to find out what had happened. I explained the situation and he said he would be back in 5 minutes after he went to review the cameras. 30 minutes later still no Abel. I asked the security guard and another gentleman (had to be the owner or General Manager because he kept grabbing cash from the drawer...sidenote he was EXTREMELY intoxicated) if I could please speak with Abel again.
This is when the door man got aggressive, shoved me into the walk way and the other bouncer (Large bald man) came up and threw a punch at me. I blocked the punch and he SQUARED UP to me and KICKED ME square in the chest knocking the wind out of me.
Has anyone else received this kind of treatment at this establishment?
I look forward to any type of response from the management.
