The museum has three levels, and several exhibits. There is a permanent exhibit on toy soldiers, with a room devoted to that on the first floor, and toy soldier displays also scattered throughout the rest of the museum.
Two other permanent exhibitions are on the third floor and are about Louisville during the era of Prohibition, and the Lewis and Clarke Expedition, which launched from this city. Both of these exhibits are informative and interesting, with the Lewis and Clarke one having a specific points for children.
When we we visited, the second floor had an exhibition on the Nutcracker, with costumes from the ballet being exhibited, along with some set design. The exhibition was a bit sparse for the floor, but not outstanding.
What I was hoping to see much more of would have been a permanent display on the roots of Louisville and how it came to be. The permanent exhibitions seemed very specific to small slices of Louisville's history, and the temporary exhibition had a fairly tenuous connection.
There is a gift shop on premises, and there is a parking lot around the back of the museum that is competitive to the rates of other lots in the area and as convenient to the other sites in the area (the Louisville Slugger Museum, the 21C Hotel and Museum, the Science center, etc.) as the others.

Fab museum, with a seriously good exhibit on prohibition. Particular kudos goes to the performer who did the educational performance on prohibition - that was the absolute highlight for me. Only issue with the museum at the moment is that a large section of one of the floors is currently closed off - I believe that the exhibits they had there have now gone. Not sure what is going to be replacing them.

I have always enjoyed the Frazier Museum. They change their exhibits a lot so it is worth checking to see if the current ones are of interest to you. Today we saw the exhibit about prohibition and its ties to Louisville and KY. Quite interesting. It will take you 2 to 3 hours to do your visit justice. What makes it even more interesting is the many restaurants in the area. Makes for an nice day out.

Really nice museum. They tell you to start from the third floor and make your way down. Third floor has a big Lewis and Clark exhibit with lots of history, some sound effects like your in the woods and a big waterfall video projected onto the wall to show where they ended their trip at the Pacific ocean. It's good for adults and children. Several hands on sections for kids to enjoy. Informative and very nicely put together. Peaceful. Had some Lewis and Clark artifacts but mostly replica stuff and historical markers along with stuffed animals they would have seen on their journey. A big keel boat replica as well.
Also on the third floor is a history of prohibition complete with a speak easy area, a bar setup, a booth where you can sit next to Al Capone while watching video segments on related history. Pretty cool area.
Second floor has the toy soldier collection along with the first floor area. Pretty large collection donated to the museum. Interesting items here. Most of the second floor was under construction when I went. Guess it will be a bourbon historical exhibit that they hope to open in 2018.
First floor has a small number of items as well including a stuffed bison. They have live historical presentations throughout the day but I missed the three they had the day I was there. Parking is close by and $6 for the entire day. Easy to walk really close from that lot which is manned by an attendant and is located under the overpass.
Very nice museum. Somewhat small in size but it's will put together and taken care of. Spent about 90 mins here I guess.

We paid full price for the museum. We were told to start on the third floor. Third floor was an exhibit to Lewis and Clark, which was great. Also, an exhibit on the history of Bourbon/Prohibition Era which was good. The 2nd and 1st floors were closed off to exhibit times from The Hunger Games. The price for JUST that exhibit was additional and was MORE EXPENSIVE than the total cost of the museum!!! As a result of the annex the museum proper was ONE FLOOR. We paid full price and we were NOT TOLD that we would only be seeing 1/3 of the normal museum. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
