The Novel Cafe - Wilshire is one of the few places in LA where you can find that family atmosphere. The Bar tender (Kathy) amazing, friendly and provides an outstanding service. I had the Chicken Alfred - Panini and it was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this spot to friend and family.

My boyfriend was trying to find a place to watch the football game, and we came here based off a past review saying it was good to watch day games. We had breakfast, which was great and spent the rest of the game drinking mimosas. Our waitress was nice and attentive; it was real empty, but we got what we needed. There is a bar attached to the left, but I guess they didn't want to open since there weren't so many people. I would like to come back for a night cap sometime soon.

The bar is cozy and the staff is wonderful. Typical bar menu during night but during the day and dinner it is spectacular. I especially come for the service which is always well above average. The people are inviting and there is always a bunch of people to hang with. The owner is a wonderful, jolly person. I definitely recommend especially since they have my favorites amongst tap.

I came here during the first week they were open and this place was just a mess. Nobody knew what to do and I was served the most ridiculous looking hamburger I have ever received. I have read good reviews from their other locations so I felt fine to assume that they were just overwhelmed because of the new staff and grand opening traffic. Regardless, what I was served should have never been let out of the kitchen, so I was very disappointed in the way this place was being run. Well I finally got the courage to give this place another shot and just to be fair I ordered the same thing. This time at least it seemed to be prepared properly by their standards. Despite the fact that they screwed my order up a bit, the food was still bland and boring to eat. Nothing good about this place except for the coffee (which they get from Ground Works in Hollywood) and the pastries (which they get form some little old lady baker).
I will continue to go here for a coffee, and an occasional cookie, but you will never find me dining here again.
UPDATE: I gave it a third shot the other day and guess what? This place is crap. The food was crap, really just no good. My friends ordered a medium rare streak and the chef (or lack there of) let it out of the kitchen at well done. I mean come on, is it to much to expect things to be done right these days? Our server had a bad attitude and never checked on us.
Will I go for coffee or pastries ever again? I just might but I will not give the restaurant a fourth try.
