I have been to several VA medical centers up and down the east coast. The Lexington VA medical center is by far the most outstanding VA and most improved on the east coast. They have taken the words of Abraham Lincoln to heart and serve ALL who have served. The staff are friendly and go above and beyond to help our Veterans.
The DOD staff are amazing, I have witnessed the officers countless hours of dedicated work in providing protection to our Veterans and the staff of the medical center.
I would like to commended the Social Workers of the Lexington VA, you are truly blessed by wisdom. Every department from Transitional, Mental Health, Homeless Veterans Program, and more you Social Workers are forging away for our Veterans to come home. And you impact their lives more then you will ever know! There isn't enough gold in the world to repay you for your great works!
I say Thank you to the VA Lexington Medical Center for continuing the promise to serve our Veterans that have given so much for our freedoms.

For the most part the health care professionals are very good. And I guess that's what matters the most. But if you get travel pay for your UK appointment or other appointment outside the VA and have to turn it into the finance dept. they could care less if you get it or not. They will give you the run around about it until the 30 day limit is up and then it's to late to get it. Very unprofessional about helping you with it when it's clearly their fault for losing it.

Treated like a drug addict whenever I have to go to the ER. Treated like a drug addict while recovering after general surgery. I don't take any type of medicine or aspirin, ever! Last time in the ER from flipping zero turn mover on me, I was told "you must do some kind of drugs the way you talk", the way I talk?!? I told them to stop treating me/others like druggies! Walked out bleeding from surgery wounds twice because of the foul, hurtful treatment. Filed complaint with VA advocate, when I followed up, the report was not in the system. Wanted to stay and get treated, was sent home (first experience with Lex VA) didn't make it ended up in ER in another city where I was in intensive care for some time then the VA would not pay the bill. Sure there are good folks there, but there must be some oppressive wicked management running the place for it to be this messed up. I wish I didn't feel the need to complain, but.. there are many other veterans worse off than I and they need better "care".
I served my country and am honored that I was allowed.

When it comes to all the horror Stories about VAs I've never experienced that with any of the ones I've been too. Especially not here in Lexington. I know everyone has their opinions. As for me the staff has always been super helpful and knowledgeable. appointment times are reasonable. Service is awesome. Hope everyone can keep an open mind and receive the care they require.
