My sisters and I had so much fun celebrating a birthday! When making the reservation I was asked if we were celebrating anything...YES! It was such a great dining experience from the moment I made the reservation, walked in the door, sat at our table, and the staff could not have been more attentive and kind! The food is delicious and unique. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a fun dining experience.

Fabulous! Small, intimate dining, yummy food, superb service. Very impressed and will be back for sure! (And their blackened octopus was AMAZING! Best octopus I've had, hands down.)

Get the duroc pork or scallops. Definitely the favorites here for me. Rest of the menu is also superb and deserves a venture through. Don't skip in dessert. Wine menu is extensive with great recommendations to go with your food. Always recommend to everyone

I cannot say enough good things about Novel. From the moment we made reservations, I was impressed with the attention to detail. We were asked if we had dietary restrictions (vegetarian) and if we were celebrating anything (anniversary).
We arrived early, but were seated promptly. The hostess congratulated us on our anniversary. The server appeared almost immediately and acknowledged my dietary restrictions before giving recommendations. She noted items that could be made without meat, which was appreciated.
I noted two things throughout our meal. First, the staff was attentive, but not overbearing. Empty plates did not remain on our table long, glasses were filled before empty, and silverware/dessert menus were brought out at the appropriate times. At no point, however, did I feel they were hovering or pressuring us to speed up/slow down. Second, the plating is absolutely beautiful, but the flavors in each dish were well-thought out and have subtle surprises for the palate.
Our meal included:
Heirloom tomato salad (hints of mint and strawberry really added an extra layer to this dish)
Lump crab salad (larger and more filling than expected)
Ricotta gnocchi (gnocchi truly melted in your mouth, absolutely delicious)
Sea diver scallops (perfection on a plate)
Fried okra with chicken andouille on the side (fabulous flavor with thinly sliced pickled banana peppers for an extra bite)
Fried blueberry pie (the lemon ice cream, stunning!)
Peanut butter custard (with the Concord grape, like a light and airy sophisticated PB&J - perfect way to end the meal)
The atmosphere was cozy and romantic, as described. The staff was professional and on point. The owners are humble and gracious. Novel is an amazing little gem and makes the perfect date night location.

We went here for my birthday and the staff was so kind and really tried to make the meal special. The bread was incredible and the appetizer of Grilled Lamb Sausage was amazing. There was a lot of flavor. I had the Seared Diver Scallop and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The scallop was very tender and the sweet potato paired beautifully. The waitress even suggested a wine to go with my meal and it did pair wonderfully. For dessert we had the fried blueberry pie, which they put a candle in the pie for my birthday. (I thought this was a very nice touch.)
Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I am so glad we went here. This is a place we will have to go to again.
