Everyone should know and visit Allen's Landing. It's the birthplace place of Houston and my favorite spot in town. It's worth making a stop but I'd read up on the history beforehand or it will be absolutley meaningless. The newly restored Sunset Coffee Building and Willow Street Pump Station (former crematorium) are there as well. The University of Houston owns and rents out the station for events. There's a small room to the left when you enter with a few photos and historical write ups. I stopped to take a look around but was kicked out by the assistant to the head of the university. Apparently it's not open to the public and only for rent. Nonetheless, my son and I walk around this area from time to time so it's a cool and FREE activity for kids.

Allen's Landing is one of my favorite parks on Buffalo Bayou in Houston. It was closed down for renovation few years ago. No one could say when to open.

I was so glad to attend the annual Dragon Boat Festival on a beautiful day in May. The location is perfect for such outdoor activity.

Wouldn't recommend it. Water is not clear. You can walk along the water though

Love coming down to the water here. Tons of texas history and great views of downtown. If you want to check it out at night just be sure to bring a friend lots of people wandering through all the time.
