Six of us celebrated my birthday at Au Petit Paris last night. The food and service were superb! We have been dining here since they opened and have always loved each and every time we have dined here. If you want a delicious meal . . . go to . . . Au Petit Paris!

Surprisingly, it's hard to find a French restaurant in Houston. This place not only has great food, but the atmosphere is intimate. My husband and I love this place. It has become our date-night restaurant. Everything on the menu is excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I should mention first that I tried this restaurant for HRW. Parking is rather limited. Other than that, the food was quite yummy in this quaint establishment. I had the Croque Monsieur and it was super yummy. The fries were not. Seemed like they weren't fresh, but rather frozen? The onion soup wasn't as rich as I'd like. I prefer a dark colored soup as opposed to light. The onions also weren't falling apart in the soup, is this normal? The mousse was also not smooth as I'd hoped/imagined. Service? Excellent. That's always a bonus in my book.

I usually do not do restaurant reviews, but today I met my sister for lunch at the Au Petit Paris Restaurant. My lunch was excellent. I selected the Express Lunch which included a cup of tomato basil soup, fish crepes with a side salad, and dessert. The dessert was vanilla ice cream enclosed in a warm crepe, resting in a pool of warm bitter sweet chocolate. My sister ordered the dish, which also included a side salad. Her dish was layered with tomatoes, shrimp, avocados, with remoulade sauce. The portions were great and the price very reasonable. I will definitely be dining there again.

Dined here during restaurant week. They had a pretty good deal, $35 for appetizer, entree, and dessert. To be quite honest I really didn't enjoy the meal. My expectations may have been high but the escargot was flavorless, the pastry tasted like store bought Pillsbury dough. I realize its French but the portions were ridiculously small. The salmon was good, the polenta was overcooked, and the dessert (bread pudding) was nothing to rave about. The rest of my party loved the food so it may just be my palette.
