Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is for the employees of the hotel, the price, and proximity to the beach. I didn't get a condo, just a room for a week. The hotel is extremely out dated. But for only around $95 dollars per night it was extremely cheap for Hawaii. And when I go back chances are ill stay there again. The employees were all super nice and greeted us with smiles, the beach was within 10 minutes of walking, and the price was super cheap for Hawaii. I'd give a thumbs up for the Monarch 👍🤙

This place is historic and Central to everything in Waikiki.... The hotel itself could use a facelift, but our room is nicely renovated and modern. I would definitely stay here again! The prices compared to other places are really good. (This was an Airbnb)

Pros. Easy registration. This place accepted me when I had nowhere to go I'm So grateful for the price. I got a weekly for 530 plus 100 deposit. Good for kids. The security is so high makes you feel ALWAYS watched. Only your room key inserted moves the elevator. The pool was cool. The view from the recreational deck was uplifting. Cons. There are big roaches that really only bother you if you don't clean up after yourself. Make sure to take the trash out twice a day. The other thing that stressed me out was laundry machine take debit or credit only!

Hotel is pretty outdated, nothing impressive but it does the job. Shower is kind of small for a 6' tall male. Pool is wonderful, jacuzzi was ok. Front desk manager is pretty anal and came off very rude in his demeanor, somewhat obsessive-compulsive about small things that weren't a big deal - like yelling at you to move out of the way of the lobby when there weren't any people trying to check it. 3 stars bumped down to 2 stars because of that experience.

Carpet So Cloroxed it used to be dark green, now it's soiled beige. No padding on bed, it's like Two box springs and it's a Small Full as opposed to a queen.
Bathtub was totally peeling so we had to shower on the far side of it.
No hotel parking, so independent contractor charges $25.00 for 24hours.
And don't think that you will have street parking there's like 5 stalls for a million people. And you have to move your car at 6:30 am so then you still have to pay $25.00 to get off the street 🙁.
Oh, did I mention Prostitutes and look like drug users.
Evening front desk not friendly or Happy to see you.
But, lots of Security and AC worked well, very Hot water, and house keepers were Pleasant. Would I stay here again, No.
