A must visit on Waikiki beach, Marukame Udon brings the quality and culture of Japanese cuisine to the islands. If you've never been, it can be a little intimidating to order when you aren't sure exactly what everything is. Udon is a type of thick noodle that is prepared in advance to be put in a bowl with varying degrees of sauce richness and thickness. Kake Udon seems to be the standard, with Bukkake Udon being a richer broth that is more like a sauce. They also make it with curry, or even separating the sauce for you to dip it in. All are well worth the try, and the side bar is delightful. Try to go for a early or late meals as their peak times can push the line well out the door. Delicious and surprisingly affordable, we will be visiting many times.

Wow no way you can’t get five stars for this spot. Food was fantastic, fresh noodles made right in front of you, epic fried shrimp, eggs, veggies and fast service. Also super super affordable for this area. The quality to cost is a huge win! Worth the wait in line (which I assume is a constant since we went at 4:45pm on a Monday afternoon lol)

Best Udon in town for a very reasonable price. They make the noodles in front of you. Don't be turned off by the long line (often out the door) they run thru the line very quick. I only waited about 10 minutes. For shorter wait times go before the lunch hour. Highly recommended if your in the area.

Best udon in town! The first time I tried this place out was for breakfast. Loved it so much I came back for lunch! Def try the Japanese curry or #1 with the sweet beef. Tasty broth and not too salty. Cheap eats with great flavor. They also serve yummy tempura. My fave are the mushrooms. Can get very busy mainly evening time especially on the weekends.

My husband and I decided to try this place because we saw long lines the first 3 days we were in Hawaii. We both concluded that the food must be good and we checked our handy dandy Google Reviews to confirm. We joined the line and waited an hour, we got served literally 9 minutes before the doors closed. We got our food to go because there were hardly no seats and so many people left in line. We had the Beef Curry Udon and it was delicious! No complaints when it comes to the quality and taste of the food. Overall it was a great experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. At the end of the night, the long wait time/line was worth it.
