Fairly large tasting room. Air conditioned. Only 3 stalls in ladies room. If,you are there when tour buses arrive from the ship (four arrived during our visit), you WILL have to wait. They will ship what you buy. Self guided tour. Small snack bar on premises.

The Mauna Loa Mac Nut farm is an okay place to spend a few minutes. You can look in the windows of the factory and watch all the machines and workers prepare and package all the macadamia nut products. It's a super short self-guided tour. They have a big store, an obvious tourist trap, but they keep most flavors of mac nuts stocked, and they give out samples (like two or three nuts). Prices are pretty much the same as you'd find at the grocery store though. The farm is not too far out of the way from downtown Hilo, but I would place it low on the priority list for island visitors. If you really need to burn an hour doing something, I would just recommend spending it at the beach, rather than making a stop here. Not that special.

Road is cracked and bumpy needs to repaved. Gift shop is over crowded with people. Cashiers lines are long, food lines are long. No samples for each of the different products for the tourists to try before they buy it. The tourists are on a time limit there, sad but not enough space to walk around and enjoy it.

Macadamia nut ice cream... awesome. Best selection for Mac nits in town. Visit the factory where they process products, watch them dip their macadamia nut cookies in chocolate from the dipping shack window, or but all the different flavors of nits in the store. Go out back for their flavorful ice cream.
