If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. All agents, except for the one who finally behaved like a professional, did their very best to avoid paying my relatively small ($2k) claim. Obstacle after obstacle arose — documents sent via email, pdf, or scan were "unreadable"; my cardiologist, who is among the best at one of Boston's biggest and best hospitals, had to write TWO letters explaining why and how my heart problems had suddenly worsened and precluded my taking a wonderful trip to Greece. [He of course had nothing better to do with his time than write letters for me.] A friend who's in the insurance business told me that agents in many insurance companies are deliberately trained to frustrate clients, the goal being to get the clients to throw up their hands in despair and give up on the claim. I was stubborn. I refused to give up. But I suspect the real reason TII finally agreed to pay my claim was that I threatened to sue.

I advise anyone taking a tour or cruise to accept in the insurance offered by the vendor. I used Travel Insured International for a cruise rather than the cruise line (it was a bit less expensive). Due to financial reasons I had to cancel this trip. I knew I would have to pay a cancellation fee but thought I could get some of my money back from Travel Insured International. No, I could not. Had I going with the cruise line's insurance I would have.

We've been very pleased with the people we've worked with at Travel Insured. It is well run and professional.
