I was extremely disappointed with the restaurant's service after visiting on Sunday, 10/15. Both tables on either side of us were seated after us, ate, paid, and left before we even got our food. The waitress apologized for the delay and for the mix up- it turned out the table next to us was served our food instead. We sent back one of the plates because the poached eggs were cooked completely through. The returned meal was taken off the bill but after waiting for over an hour to get our food, only to wait again because it wasn't correct, was beyond frustrating. I've been to The Universal a number of times and have never experienced service like this, it just would have been nice to see the staff show more concern for the unfortunate circumstances.
I tried to leave my complaint privately twice but never received a response.

I had the custard French toast over a month ago and I am still thinking about it on a regular basis!! There is a cautioned wait for this item because it takes about 20 minutes to prepare. Completely worth it! Go have a breakfast changing experience!

Great place for breakfast/ brunch. The pancakes are huge and delicious. The menu had a nice variety of choices. The service is friendly and quick. Every time I come here it's been a very pleasant experience.

This place frustrates me. The staff are super friendly and the food is absolutely delicious, but the wait is ridiculous. I used to come here a few times a week and eventually knocked it down to once a month, the reason being is I don't have the time to sit for 20-30 minutes just to get water, then another 20 minutes just to have my order taken! You have to flag your server down to get hot sauce or ketchup, and you also have to flag them down for the check, which also takes about 20 minutes for them to bring back your change.
I come back every time hoping for a different experience, but nothing changes. I guess I would only recommend this place if you have 1.5-2 hrs. of time to eat.

Cute place. Stopped by while driving out of town to go back home. We got seated right away considering how busy it was but having been in the food service for many years the wait staff needs to be more organized. We waited about 20 minutes just to get water.
Other then that I would come again. :>)
