I remember going to the Dallas Zoo back in the 1980s and many of the animal exhibits had concrete walls with no semblance of a natural habitat. What a huge difference the Dallas Zoo is now and when I went 3 years ago. Lots of shade during the hot Texas summers. Lots of nice exotic animals from the Safari to the Outback. You even get to look at giraffes eye-to-eye for free!
Like most other theme park/zoo locations, food and gifts are overpriced. I didn't ride the new tram on the South side of the zoo, but it is really nice that they have one. Lots of cooling zones and misters.
My kids and I really enjoyed the zoo. They have an entire section for the kids. Stroller access is available to every animal area. This is a very family friendly zoo.

The animals were fun to look at and being able to interact with a few of them made the trip amazing! I got to brush goats and feed giraffes with friends and we couldn't stop smiling. Facilities were clean but the restaurants were a bit pricey so we ate elsewhere. I would suggest going around 11-12 so that the animals have time to wake up and start moving around so you can have a better experience with them.

The entrance song though.... 😂 it’s now stuck in my head. “Welcome to the Dallas Zoo.” I have to say that this zoo was okay. They had mostly animals we have seen before and some that we haven’t. I liked the placement for each animal. The walking distance was great. The food was pretty good! 👍🏼 I recommend their pulled pork burger. Overall, I would come back to the zoo if there’s anything new!

My family and I love this zoo! We have been members for years and will be for many more. They are constantly improving their exhibits, conservation efforts and strive to educate others. Any time you see an employee, they will gladly stop whatever they are doing to answer any questions you may have. It is very affordable, especially if you get a membership. I can't say enough good things about this zoo. I know that most people think the Ft. Worth zoo is the best in North Texas, but I truly think the Dallas zoo is!

The Dallas zoo is always great, and I go almost every weekend. The membership is a great deal and you can go an unlimited amount of times with free parking.
We bring in drinks and snacks with us, but there are also places inside that serve food. They serve wine and beer.
There are so many activities here all year, every time we go it's a different experience. There are science days, Halloween events, summer nights with live music, and we've been to a dinosaur event and a Lego event. There is also a kids area where they can get hands on with farm animals and crafts. Bring them a swim suit because there is a little river in the kids area that they all play in.
You can feed the giraffes and watch the zookeepers feed penguin and hippos.
The monorail is fun because you can see parts of the zoo that you can't when you're walking.
There is a great Bird show where the birds fly around the crowd, and almost every 30min there is a zookeeper who brings out an animal.
Great exercise.
I also feel like they really care about their animals, it's not like a circus. I've never thought they have been abused. The animals are spoiled here.
