It allows different Colleges hold there Graduations there. It real big and it holds a lot of people they even have a book store. They have a parking garage handicap access. Easy to find it behind Baptist Hospital

The worship was different than what I am use to but the people and the word were beyond words. I felt very welcomed and God gave Pastor Brad a message just for me. Definitely a bible teaching spirit filled body of Christ.

The First Baptist Church is a beautiful venue for a gathering, located just off of Main Street in Columbia, SC. It is of historic importance because it was the original site that SC decided to secede from the Union in 1860. However, due to a reported outbreak of smallpox across the street, the meeting was adjourned to Charleston a few days later where the secession documents were signed.
Also, when Sherman came through to burn Columbia for its sins, they planned on burning this building but someone on the outside told the troops that the First Baptist Church was located elsewhere. The troops burned that church down instead. Allegedly anyway.

Without question this is one of the most wonderful churches we have had a privileged to be a part of and member of in our lifetime.
It's not about the building, it's not about the church, it's not about the members, it is all about HIM, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!
It just hits you, through and through, as you are greeted by the smiling members, always with a welcome, Spiritual hand shake, and sometimes a pat on the back!
I was a Lutheran for 62 years, and before our marriage in 1962, my wife was a Baptist. God has Blessed us with three wonderful boys/men. Kyle, Todd, and Timothy.
Little did I know what I have missed over the years. It's not that a Baptist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, Catholic or others, will be assured that you will go to
Heaven when you depart this earth ........ you can not earn your way into heaven! You MUST accept Jesus Christ into your heart publicly and as we Baptist publicly do, be Baptized by total immersion into the Boy of Christ.
