I had such high hopes for this place! AND we had such amazing service! A group of 6 of us arrived right when they opened at 10a on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. The hostess was very friendly and seated us immediately. We sat at the front table and had a nice view through the large window. The hostess stopped by to chat throughout our meal. And our waiter was extremely patient with our chatty group! He was also very helpful with all of my questions and indecisive-ness.
Between all the people at our table, we had two orders of the Chorizo Omelet, the Falafel, the Carnitas and the French Toast. I got to try a little of my friend's omelet - the chorizo was in slices, not ground as I expected it to be. The sausage had nice flavor, but the eggs were under seasoned. However, the potatoes that came with the omelet were great! They were crispy and salty, just way I like them!
My husband and I shared both of our dishes. Between the two, the Carnitas were definitely less impressive. The pork itself was in huge chunks - and they are very tender, but they had zero flavor. I tried dipping it in the salsa, but I didn't really like the salsa. I tried dipping it in the guac, but it was only mildly seasoned.
The french toast was definitely better. It's served without maple syrup, although apparently it is available upon request. I'm wondering now if I should've requested it....the waiter assured me that the toast was sweet on its on, plus it was piled high with fruit compote (which was beautifully sweet and not very tangy) and two huge scoops of cinnamon butter. But I think that when I order french toast or pancakes, even if they have fruit or cinnamon or whipped cream on top, I'm still gonna crave that maple! Other than that, it was nicely done! It was nice and soft and custardy!
I'm not sure that I would go back at this point. I've had better french toast, and the other dishes I tried were ones for which I had high hopes, but I found to be disappointing.
At least we managed to find a meter with no problem! It was right across the street and it was free!

A wonderful meal which met my guests applause and the tulips were even in agreement!

Service was a little slow, but the food was fantastic and more than made up for it. We really enjoyed our dinner. Cocktails were delicious as well. I believe the slow ness was from being short handed in the kitchen, but our server was very attentive.

I went to Nectar for the first time and was less than impressed. It was a Thursday night, and there were people at four other tables when we walked in. There was one waitress, who also acted as a hostess. She was very nice and tried to be as attentive as she could; however, that is hard when you are the only front staff. Overall though, the service was decent enough.
As for the food: Being vegetarian, I looked online to make sure the menu had something I could eat and saw that the menu was limited, but there were still options. However, when I went, one of the two 'large plate' vegetarian items wasn't even listed. Unfortunately, that was the item I was interested in trying. I decided to order two small plates because I didn't want a plate of lentils for $17. I ordered a spinach, blood orange, and beet salad, and the cauliflower pakora (items that aren't currently listed on the online menu. They really need to update their website apparently). The salad had a handful of spinach, a tablespoon a goat cheese, about a quarter of a blood orange and half of a small beet. I am not even exaggerating. And for almost $9, I expected to at least have a little bit more of the good stuff. (A tablespoon of goat cheese?!) Spinach is pretty cheap, and they gave me about three mouth fulls of it. As for the cauliflower, it was good, but definitely not worth the $8 price tag. My boyfriend ordered the Chinese barbecue pork and said it was okay. He said it wasn't worth the $23. And despite finishing our plates and spending $50, we will both still hungry afterward.

Had brunch there last Saturday. First time trying this place & we're so glad we did. The food was excellent. I had the fritata/potatoes/fruit with a side of bacon. Delicious! My son had the black beans and goat cheese tomales ~ he loved them and ate all that was on his plate as well as a side of potatoes. Our waitress, Sue, couldn't have been better. Attentive and pleasant! We will go back.
