Did a Grand Canyon tour with Caravan. Loved it. I would go more often if I had the money.

We would never say that Bob was a terrible tour director. He was prompt, well versed on the areas, and entertaining. However after about three days he did get his favorites and then things started to change. He would go to that part of the bus during a drive, (mostly where the couple the Rays from the Carolina‘s) were and stay there laughing with them. The most upsetting thing he did was announce on the day we were going through the Kancamagus Highway that because the “Rays” had volunteered to sit in the back of the bus that they would be given the first chance to come up front and see the foliage color in his seat. First of all the “Rays” had NOT sat in the back any more then the rest of us. We changed seats each day and they rotated back like we all did. If they did that at all they only sat there the one day they were suppose too and maybe part of the next day. In order for us all to get a good view of the leaves, Bobby said that we would take turns coming forward so people could come up front and sit for a few min. and see the colors and take some photo’s. That did not happen, the “Rays” sat there the whole 35 mile trip. At the first pull off the fog was bad and we did not stop, how ever at the second one that was virtually empty other then one car and a bus, we slowed way down and then speed up and went on down the road. The colors were beautiful there over looking the valley below (even though there was a little mist and small amount of fog) and we have no pictures of any of this whole 35 miles. I wanted to burst into tears. This was a very long time dream to see the fall colors and a long saved for and planned trip. I realize that the weather plays a huge part in this and some may never see them, but on this day they were there and what a beautiful overlook over the valley it appeared to be. I am sure the “Rays” have many wonderful pictures of it too. When my husband approached Bob about this he said to him, “ Well you will have to come on my trip next week then”, a totally rude remark. and two times over the loud speaker he made a comment that some wondered why we did not stop, he was sorry that we could not of stopped and made excuses, ( like there was a car coming out of the entrance and it was hard to get the bus in and we all know after the places that the driver had got that bus in, that was not a problem, like I said the lot was empty) We felt it was a direct remark meant for us and showed his annoyance. We talked to the people on the other bus that did stop and were just ahead of us and they were surprised that we did not stop. He told my husband “We stopped at the covered bridge and there was a chance to get fall colors there, it is a nice quaint spot but there was one little tree along the creek that was red and the rest green. We do not have one picture of that most wonderful area. After all the tour was titled “New England Summer and Fall foliage“. There was no excuse for not stopping and we strongly resent his rudeness. He was lucky to get any tip at all in my opinion. We are retired and there will not be means to ever repeat that trip.
