I LOVE this place. I've been a sushi lover for over 20 years. This is BEST sushi experience of my life. Chefs Melvin & Carlo are game changers. This is not your typical, same old same old sushi location. Their creations are amazing. Followed them from Kyoto.
Tell them what you like and what you don't like and they will make items better than you could imagine. Go to Kai Zan, bring your best friends or family (or both!) and make some memories to last a lifetime. Thank you Kai Zan

Legit, the best sushi I have had in Chicago. I have tried many of places. This place takes the cake. Congrats to Kai Zan. Hopefully they can keep it up the creativity and quality.

While the food was good (most dishes were very tasty and a few were just OK) this place is definitely overrated. The stress of being here on time and only having 90 minutes at the table just isn't relaxing. It feels as if there is a countdown timer the entire time you are there. If the food could justify the uneasiness of the timer then I would give this place 5 stars, but honestly there are so many places in the city which have better tasting food. This place does have good value at $65 for the omakase, but I'd rather pay a little more and relax.

One of the best sushi experiences I've ever had. My wife and I both did tasting menus, got some drinks. Service was perfect, quick, friendly. Every single dish was interesting, and tasted fresh and wonderful. Highly recommended.

Amazing. Very thick cuts of fish. Not too expensive. Everything was wonderful and very creative. Some of the best sushi I've ever had. Patio seating is great, and I believe it is first come first, served.
