Never actually rented the car in the end because they were so delayed at the airport, and if you decide to use your own insurance (mine was corporate) they require to have a copy of the policy when you get there. Given I did not have the COMPANY's policy, they told me I had to pay the 10.99/ day for uninsured motorist coverage. Since they were so slow, I simply walked over to Budget and walked out with a car in 4 minutes. The reviews DO NOT LIE, these guys are very sketchy.

My rating (5/5) is based on our first-time experience with Payless Car rental. We have recently rented a car from Boston Logan airport through them. The person at the counter was quick in service. We booked for an intermediate sized sedan, and he upgraded us to mid-sized SUV, free of charge (probably they ran out of intermediate sedan). After returning the car, we were charged exact billed amount. It was a good experience.

It is off airport grounds which we didn't know. Office is out of a hotel. Clerk NEVER answers the phone. Tried to give me a car that had broken panel. Not friendly, more of a, I'm taking up her time attitude. Drivers were nice though. You can return cars to avis at the airport after hours according to the sign on front door. Still way cheaper than all the fees the airport rentals charge.

Cheap is about the only good thing I can say. I waited quite a while for the attendant to serve a few other customers. The rental car had a funky smell in it, but otherwise was generally acceptable. Before returning the vehicle I took pictures of the car. I waited quite a while again to return the vehicle A day or two later my wife told me we has about $2000 in charges related to the rental when the total was supposed to be

Do not use this company. No one ever answers the phone at the Charlotte location. They gave away my car in Miami, and I had to wait a long period of time for a new car, which was not even close to what I reserved. I have been waiting 5 weeks for them to reach out to me with a final bill. The amount of effort required to deal with this company is far greater than the seemingly good deals they offer on rental rates. Steer clear of this company at all costs, pay a bit more and use someone else.

**Update** I was finally able to get a receipt after calling the corporate customer service line. However the gentleman was barely helpful and very very hard to understand. This being said I would still not use them again.
