This is the best chicken I have ever had. The sweet potatoes were very good as was the corn bread. The cole slaw was no very good and came from a jar and the red rice was a little dry. The fried chicken is unbelievable though. If you are in town, you must try.

Absolute great place, all the hype is real. I've never found a place that better defines a "hole in the wall the locals eat at". I'm a big guy and I didn't leave hungry, and even skipped my next meal. One thing of advice is when asked white or dark meat chicken if you ask for mixed you will get a double portion (little more money). The sweat tea is great and I'm a tea lover.

This PLACE IS AMAZING! It is an old gas station changed into a restaurant. It's old school southern cooking. The fried chicken is to die for! Will definitely return here on our next trip. It will not disappoint. A must go for the foodie.

This was the best fried chicken I expect to ever have in my life. It was sublime. Normally, after a lunch of fried bird, one would expect to feel sluggish. Prepare to have that expectation blasted out of the water like a howitzer's 155mm shell impacting a rubber duck that's bobbing down Shem Creek. I did not know what soul food meant until I ate here. I learned that soul food doesn't just satisfy your physical cravings, it leaves you feeling that you are a good person who has made the right decisions and that everything is going to be alright. Good cornbread too.

Ordered the fried fish with Lima beans and rice, I felt as though she really did not want me there. The food was good, but the pricing was more like if I was dining next door to Halls Chop House downtown, (and this is not even close to being a downtown establishment). This was my first visit and I was a little disappointed; When she asked what drink I would like, I asked "What do you have?" I was greeted with.."Tell me what you want".... (Okaaayy???!!). Maybe I caught them on a bad day, I guess
Got the Diet Coke and was ready to pay and bounce. When I got the receipt to sign, I stated there is no line to add a tip. (Understanding the service industry personally, I still wanted to show my appreciation for the food). Here was my gift from her...,"You can still tip if you want, it's up to you ".
She was absolutely correct!
I signed the bill (no tip), thanked everyone and got in my car and took my happy behind back to work
