Our dog has had two life threatening episodes with pancreatitis and this wonderful, caring staff has saved his life each time. Both episodes happened on a weekend and he ended up spending the weekend there each time. Don't think they charge any more than any other ER facility. My wife and I will always be grateful!

I had to take my very elderly cat to the Veterinary Emergency Center last night. Blood work showed that he was in severe kidney failure and ultimately I had him euthanized to keep him from suffering. The staff was professional, patient and so very kind. Dr. Ambrose was lovely and gentle with my old man cat. As sad as the evening was, I felt lucky to have ended up in their care.

Horrible place. In a bind with sick cat on weekend. I've been here over 2 hours, want 500.00 for tests, now they have had cat in back for blood work for 45 mins. Staff rude, unprofessional appearances and attitudes, I'm being held hostage here. Even went to back room and knocked on door, they told me to wait a minute. Still waiting. I just want to leave and can't.

I'll start by saying I have a master's in animal physiology with a focus on animal welfare and reproductive studies. I have worked with zoo, small animal and wildlife vets and professionals for the last 10 years. My miniature schnauzer is currently there after a pit mix ambushed her and almost killed her. They did a good job with surgery (had to stitch up abdominal muscles and removed approximately 12" if intestines) and post-op care, and recovery has been better than expected. The internal damage was more severe than we thought and I can understand that the cost went up after they started the surgery and found out the extent of her injuries, and had a better length of recovery estimate. However, after calling me Saturday at 4 am to let me know how the surgery went and that she would likely need another day to recover (home Monday instead of Sunday) as well as additional antibiotics and pain meds, they quoted me an extra 300-400 on top of the high-end estimate, about 900 more than the low-end estimate. I called today (Sunday) to see how she was doing, and although post-op care plan and length of stay hasn't changed, they added another 800 to the bill, at least. It is currently 1200 more than the original high-end estimate and more than twice the low-end estimate. Dr. Ambrose says she "can't" work with us on the price because it is set in the computer and has no idea why the other vet on staff quoted us so low and inaccurately. I'm sure they care about the animals, but it doesn't keep them from taking advantage of desperate pet owners and I still walk away feeling that it's a scam. Based on review for Bradenton Veterinary Emergency on Manatee Ave, I would recommend if there is an emergency, you take your business there instead.

This morning around 3:30 I had to bring my dog in to be euthanized. She was 14 yrs old and in a lot of distress and discomfort. The price was the best ER price I could find and was only $13 more than my vet was going to charge. They were very compassionate and sympathetic to our situation and gave us all the time we needed. I would highly suggest this place!!!!
